homecoming testivities highlight tootboll seoson homecoming I972 was a project started by the student council in late summer. atter the original red tape lpiclcing a date, getting a parade permitl was cut, various groups around the school got to worlc on their contributions to home- coming. much ot the activity centered around the october I9 parade. organizations entering tloats included: band, texans! texanns, deca, voe, german club, honor society, lcazoo band, vica, trench club, scotch-irish mobilization committee, latin club, english teachers, and the chemistry department. the homecoming court rode on the student council entry. even though the weather was less than ideal, the parade came ott as planned. at the iohnston game on october 20 the band sweetheart and homecoming court were announced. gloria hunt was named cougar band sweetheart with hilda prado and lcaren mc lcean as her tirst and second runners-up. connie gilles- pie became homecoming queen. her court was mary bellemans, tirst runner-up, maripat maytield, second runner-up, diane moore, third runner-up, ethel cottee, junior princess, cynthia sanders, sophomore princess, and susan schnell, treshman princess.
