Plans are being made to expand the library when space becomes available. There are several librarians who take care of the library and assist Miss Hoffman. Together with their instructor, Miss Lucile Hoffman, the girls at- tended a number of workshops throughout the year and gained firstehand information about their teaching careers. F. T. ' 3-5 Forty-eight students were enrolled in the drivers' training course this year. Forty of the 48 students who participated in the course took it for credit. The Davis Motor Company contributed the l95l Chevrolet. John Tomek taught behind-the-wheel training, while Ellis Mercer taught the classroom auto educa- tion. After completing classroom studies, the students took behind-the-wheel training and finished the course by obtaining their licenses from the patrolmon. The Huskies, by the way, were the only team to beat Seward this year as they edged them 6-O. Drum majorette, Eileen Kelso, and the seven twirlers, in their new uniforms, led the 60-piece march- ing band this year. The organization made marching appearances at the Nebraska State Fair, Platte County Fair, University Band Day in Lincoln, The Harvest of Harmony in Grand Island, and the Ak-Sar-Ben in Omaha. The marching band won the ratings of excellent at their Harvest of Harmony and Ak-Sar-Ben appear- ances. The band chose Connie Votava as the David City representative to compete for the title of Miss Harvest of Harmony contest this year. The 66-piece concert band presented three con- certs to the public this year on December l6, February IO, and March 2. The band also took part in a clinic at the David City High School on March ll.
