Principcil ond Student Council Principol's Messoge It is a rich heritage which our predecessors have left us. This heritage is the high standard incorporated into the student morale of the Daven- port High School. Nothing can prevent achieve- ment when students want to achieve. Great ob- stacles can be overcome if students want to over- come them, but insignificant difficulties can block progress if students are looking for excuses for low achievement. Building on the fine student spirit of the past, it is my hope to see co-operation between the students and the faculty grow ever closer and closer to the end that each student shall attain to his own best self. ln such an undertaking, the teacher can guide, but the student must pull. When the teacher must drive, then the learner is not a student. Q. J. SU PERINTENDENTS MESSAGE There is apparent in our community and nation today an unabating concern over educa- tion. lt would reflect the realization that our na- tion's security is dependent upon proper educa- tion as well as proper defenses. Beneath this cur- rent criticism of our school there is also evident a deep public faith in the possibilities of and in the record of the public school system. The members of the Class of T962 have completed their program as produced by our community in this great public school effort. The effectiveness of the past twelve years will now be challenged by the opportunities of continued development in the years ahead. We anticipate that the members of this Class will accept the challenge of the future and pursue it to improve themselves through a never-ending desire to achieve. The faculty extends hearty congratulations To you, the Class of '62, and sincere appreciation for strengthening the traditions of our school through your individual efforts. May you have continued success and good health. Lloyd Stcwmard BOARD CDE DIRECTORS Mr. Paul Clark, chairman, Mr. Ted Zeimantz Mr Leonard Stubbs and Mr E. W. Jacobsen.
