SU PERINTEN DENT'S MESSAGE More than any other kind of society, democracy requires talent and leadership among a great many people. The goal of our educational system must be the op- portunity and the incentive for the fullest development of each individual's abili- ties. The Davenport Schools, through the support, planning and interest of patrons of the community, have given our stu- dents a background of intellectual disci- pline that is essential to our national pur- pose as well as to our personal goals. For you to measure up to the de- mands of the hour, the character of each must be developed to instill ideals and the faith to know what is right, and to instill the courage and the resolution to choose and to work and to fight for it. lt is our sincere hope that the Class of 1961 has the perspective to utilize the training and background so acquired. Lloyd Stanna rd PRlNClPAL'S MESSAGE Another class leaves Davenport High School and all'it has meant to them -better human relationships toward all, growth and development tor them as individuals.
