FOOTBALL lContinued1 The man over the pigskin was Ray Hoople. He did a fine job of snapping the ball back cmd playing his position as a roving defense man. Many a play went past him, if it got to him. ' Bob Mead, who started out as a tackle, was moved to the backfield to play a halfback position. He was swift on his feet and gained many a yard on end runs. Arnold Thompson, senior guard, was a hard player and played stellar ball all the time. He was always on an opponent if he came near him. Pat Reinbold started out as a guard, but was shifted to blocking back. He was a vicious blocker and could open a big hole leading plays through the line. Raymond Riddle, one of the few sophomores who saw grid action, is a very talented athlete. He played a halfback position and proved that he was a hard man to stop and pull down. He will be back for two more years of grid warfare. Stanley Walton, a iunior, playing a tackle post, was small, but he was a man to watch out for. lt seemed that they couldn't keep him from going through the line. He made many a tackle and had plenty of fire all the time, T Wayne Montague, a tackle, played good ball all the time. He was always in the other guy's way and was a hard tackler. Bill Johnson, another tackle, was the other sophomore. He was a sturdy, hard driving ball player. With more experience this boy should go far. He has two more years of grid service. Richard fDickl Buck, manager of this year's team, was the man with the towels and ointment. Dick combined a fine sense of humor with a willingness to work. He was the first to cheer the team and the last to condemn it. of

Grand Coulee O The Gorillas had a rather topsy-turvy football season. As the season started things didn't look too good for the team since there was only a small nucleus around which to build a well balanced eleven. There were only four lettermen returning. Although the team was hampered by inexperience, they progressed rapidly, and after playing to- gether a while, they turned out to be a powerful, smooth working outfit. The high light of the season was the game between the highly favored Grand Coulee team and the Gorillas. D. H. S. outplayed the Coulee boys by far, but were stopped by the gun on a sure drive for pay dirt. The Gorillas won three, lost two, and tied one during the season. They scored 32 points and their opponents scored 32 also. There are six seniors leaving this year who will be greatly missed on next year's team. Don Ball, a senior end, was a powerful man on defense, there was hardly a play that went around his end. Pass receivers don't come any better. Wendell Dietrich, another end, played good ball all the time. He was a good blocker as well as pass receiver. Lyle Fisher, the heaviest man on the squad, was a rugged player who was always in the pile-ups. lf one of his opponents failed to get up, you would see a gleam of satis- faction in his eye. He will be back next year at his guard position. Glenn Kirkwood, a senior, quarterbacked this year's team. Bud showed good iudg- ment in calling plays. He was a brilliant broken field runner and was fast on his feet. Ray Conrad, a senior fullback, was the team's field captain. This pigskin toter was hard to stop once he got going. He was a vicious blocker and always picked up yardage through the line. He was the only three year letter man. Bob Frohnhafer, a guard, was small, but he made up for it by his speed and vicious blocking. He always had plenty of zip and fire. He started as blocking back, but was later moved to his guard position.
