31,: L, aw H xProtm and Banquet Enioyed By All The dunior-Senior Banquet was held in the Colonial Room of the Gardner Hotel on April 26, 1968. The theme, Springtime , and the senior class colors were carr ied out in the pink and white decorations. Guests of the junior class were the seniors and the school facu lty. oAs this was the last banquet for Davenport High School, the school board members were also invited. The meal was followed by an address given by Mr. Virgil Hans and a few comments by Mr. Kroshus. Craig Buchhoitz was the toastmaster. Other juniors took part in the program by reading the class prophecy. The seniors also read their class wiiis. The C.V.C. Prom was held in the Elk's Club on May 3, l968. The hours were from 9:00 - l2:00 P.M. with George Schoen and his orchestra providing the music. The ballroom was decorated with balloons and crepe paper of various colors. Reception Held A reception for the seniors, sen ior confirmands, and parents was held on Monday evening, May 20, I968, at the Davenport Luth eran Church. The program and ! luncl1 were sponsored by members 5 of the church. Eighth Grade Graduates LEFT' T0 RIGHT: Duane Palluck, Gev'ald Vangsness, Dallas Glasow, Kattwy Anderson, Doug Wren, Gar'net Bernstein, Ronald Kurtz, Allen Nokleberg. Last Graduation Held at Davenport High School Baccalaureate Services were held on Sunday evening, May l9, l968, in the school auditorium. The Reverend John Johansen delivered the sermon to the graduating classes. The processional and recessional were played by Janet Vangsness, and special music was by Charlotte Discher and the mixed chorus. The last Commencement Exercises for Davenport High School were held on Wednesday evening, May 22, l968. Many alumni, former teachers, administrators, school board members, school employees, and friends of the community were in attendance. As the graduates marched into the auditorium for this last graduation, they were met by a large crowd of people, a special photographer, and reporters from various papers. Mr. Kroshus gave a special welcome and recognitio to the people who had been directly involved and em- ployed by the Davenport School. A registration table for former teachers and administrators had been set up in the school lobby. A table of pictures and other memiors was also on display. , The graduation address was given by the Reverend : e. 0. Danielson, a former student of Davenport High School. Special music was sung by the Girls' Trio and Girls' Triple Trio. The event was met with mixed emotions from all--- x sadness in seeing the high school depart--yet joy in i knowing that the knowledge and friendships gained through its existence would never depart. 33
