My first year as Principal of the DRCSS brings events into much sharper focus than they ever will again. T think this has been a good year. Remember back to our UFreshie Day.H Remember the four dances that we had. Remember the HCoffee Housesu with the bubble gum blowing and the pie eating contests. Remember our Run-a-thon. That was quite a sight, seeing 800 students running down Main Street. Remember HSuperspellH. This was the best show ever put on by this school. Remember the money raised by the Graduating Class. I am sure the effort they put into it and the enjoyment they received from it made the year that much more significant. To you the Graduating Class I wish you all the best in your new endeavours. Education committee chairman, trustee Nancy Hawkins reported the football schedule includes competition against teams in the south- western region, with four away games being played at a cost of approximately S478 students. A high percentage of the school's transportation budget is being used to benefit a small number of students. The transportation budget for the DRCSS is based on student count, based on the Enal December enrollment of the previous year, -S3 per student, with the school allowed to raise one-half of that amount by school sales. The football team now uses almost one-quarter of the transportation grant for the whole school, reported Trustee Hawkins. for transportation for 30 '1'he committee recom- mended that superintendent Metro Kozak meet with the department heads and ask each one to decide what field trips his or her teachers are planning for next year. Cost estimates can then be worked out and a budget set in keeping with the current transportation allowance. It will then be determined whether or not there are enough funds available in the allowance to continue the football program for another year. A team of six members from our school went to the Prairie Regional Junior Badminton Championships in Regina on the 12th and 15th of November. Gary Gylytiuk travelled to Winnipeg to IW play in the Manitoba Junior closed, held at Red River Community College, January 28-50th. Gary along with his partner Val Peyton from Swan River brought homo a bronze medal for mixed doubles and a fourth place for men's doulles. Adam Baran, Greg Stasink and Gary Gylytink travelled to Winnipegosis for an Open Singles Tournament and took home all but one medal. Gary received two gold medals for the open and high snhool singles, Adam took a silver and a bronze for runner up open and consolation high school singles and Greg took a bronze for the open consolation singles. The entire team also played Winnipegosis and Gilbert Plains in four exhibition tournaments doing very well in both. To finish a good year of badminton off the team played in the Parkland Regional Badminton Tournament held in Dauphin on April 25rd. Gary Gylytink was the only one to take a top position of Men's Singles. On the 29th and 50th of April, Gary travelled to Winnipeg to compete in the Provincial Badminton Tournament. He was knocked out in the quarter finals of the B event. A huge thanks goes to Mr. McDougall, Nr. Smalnck and Mr. Jackson for all their support thay gave to the team. Also to Miss Drysdale for the hard work she did on the badminton Commisionare for the Parkland Region. Tkach- Guest Speaker Cexercisesl Mrs. E. Wood- Guest Speaker Cbanquetb Valedlctory Well Grads, it took us 12 years - but we made it! September 1965-June 1977. Be- tween these, years packed with growing and learning. We learn from all we do, in study, re- creation and social activities. Still there is truth in the quote, HStrange how much you've got to know before you know how little you know.H Yet we have learnt alot in the past while-like how the smiling, radiant, happy faces fC7 ' seen on the first day back to 6'-kwa. 9690 gn school after summer holidays K 5 usually belong to mothers, how Q Q students often know what's :filth going on in the school, especially time off, before the teachers do, and the amazing-almost mystical ability of teachers to plan tests for the same day. One of the questions heard at every graduation is naturally, re- member when... Remember when the guys got that small car through the school doors and into the hall-and remember when the entire school ran down Main Street and remember when... the list goes on and on. Then we look at all our preparations for grad. The fund raising, planning and the graduation itself. These will all now be placed among the many memories we have to cherish and chuckle at in years to come. Graduation is also a time used to wrap up years and years of thank you into a few words. So first let us sincerely thank our teachers who have guided Cand sometimes pushedl us along the path of learning. May we see to it that our future attainments repay you at least in part. Next cur loving thanks and heart-felt gratitude to our parents for their sacrifice and patience which has allowed us to get this far. And we ask for your forgiveness for the many times we've caused you annoyances by our teen-age follies. Also a warm thank you to all our neighbors and friends for coming out this evening and sharing this special event with us. We reach graduation with mixed emotions. Definately happy and eX- cited for having finally finished school and looking forward to the opportunity to begin shaping our own futures. -Then on the other hand - very sad when we realize that tonight we are gathered together as a class for the last time. Over the years we have made iumereus friends and snared much to- gether - but as we have come to this inevitable turning point in our lives we will go our separate ways many of us never to meet again. But despite the distance we will put between us and the things we have to leave behind let us keep in mind the goal of a full and satisfying life. And remember - UHappiQess is the art of making a bouquet of those flowers within reach.J ADAMOWSKI Katherine Linda ALLARD, Audrey Joan G ANDERSON, Debbie Lynn ANGER, Bruce Norman ANGUS, Deborah Mae ANGUS, Donald George ARCHER, Clifford William Keith ARMSTRONG, Richard Joseph BALTUS, Maria Ludovica BASARABA, Carson Grant BASSETT, Rochelle BAWDON, Marlene Gail BEDNAS, Terry William BEYETTE, Gregory Norman BEYKI, Janis Elaine BIRSS, Neila Margaret BLACK, Glenn William BLACK, Lila Lynne BLACKMON, Gregory Wade BOGUSKI, Gregory Bruce BOROWSKI, Cynthia Rose Marie BOS, Vonda Lynn MWGEN,JmwsEmmrd BOYECHKO , Kenneth Paul BOYECHKO, Lorne Alec BRIGHTNOSE, Frank Wesley BRUNEN, Marian Bernadine BRYCHKA, Donna Marie BRYCHKA, Mary Anna BULBUCK, William Brock CARUK, Linda Marlene CATCHEWAY, Georgina Marie CHERNESKI.
