KISS TODAY GOOD BYE AND POINT ME TOWARDS TOMORROW WISH ME LUCK. THE SAME TO YOU AND I WON'T FORGET, CAN'T REGRET WHAT I DID FOR LOVE. FROM A CHORUS LINE” 3 4 Memories light the corners of my mind. Misty water color memories of the way we were. Pictures of the smiles we left behind, smiles we gave to one another for the way we were. Can it be that it was all so simple then, or has time rewritten every line? If we had the chance to do it all again, would we? Could we? Memories may be beautiful, and yet, what's to painful to remember, we simply choose to forget. So it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remember the way we were. . 5 THE THE GRADUATES PAGE - 8 THE FACES PAGE - 98 THE ADMINISTRATION PAGE - 28 THE TH6 GROUPS PEOPLE PAGE ■ 76 PAGE - 38 THE EVENTS THE POSE ■ 126 ATHLETES PAGE - 52 CLASS FLOWER red rose CLASS COLORS baby blue and silver CLASS MOTTO If you can imagine it you can achieve it, It you can dream it you can become it. William A. Ward IN A GAAVE- °f LOOKSTHE ORUsVvt alr°v on When we were only foolish kids we met; we joked around, But now our friendship means so much. Since then our love has grown A little more each day. We've shared so many special things, each in a special way. We've grown together, become adults. We've learned from our mistakes. We know now what friendship means, and how much love it takes. Before too long, our lives will change, Our long straight road divide, And we will go our separate ways no longer side by side. Despite the lessons we have learned, The facts that we know, now, The hardest thing we'll every try ... is simply letting go. We take with us what those who have helped us to see have given, and our lives continue to unfold each into its own unique person. You see a fast dash go by your side Not knowing who was the stray. You try and you try to go before him, But the odds of going faster are much too wide. The tape is broken, But not by your flesh. The thoughts and questions run through Your mind of, Why?'', all the time. The T.V.'s and special people gather To see the second place winner. The words flow out of their mouth, The attitude of a winner is in you and that's what we'd rather. So have the attitude of a winner And everything else will come. -Pam Lee Damon's at it again!! The Chargers took the short end on many games that could have gone either way, due to a lot of tough breaks. They came out with a record of 2-7. Girls Swimming AS usual it was a young team, but what they lacked in experience they made up for with spirit and dedication. These twenty-two girls endured morning practices, cold water, hard workouts, and lots of chlorine. Through all this they survived and have gained many lasting friendships, and memories. Such as: Get down , Loose Goose, our KRWC radio personality, Funkytown, Full Moon Club, 3 seniors, Captains Meet, and touch and go! For the fourth consecutive year, Elaine Cole advanced to the State Swim Meet competing in the 100 Fly. 61 Boys Swimming The boy swimmers gave many worthy performances this year, winning more meets than in the last three years. The Charger wrestlers had a rebuilding year with many young wrestlers compet- ing on varsity for the first time. They wres- tled well, but weren't able to win consis- tently throughout the squad, thus ending with a record of 1-11. Co-Captains Steve Jilek and Bill Plamann wrestled extremely well, capturing first place finishes at both the Atwater Classic and Paynesville tour- nament. Coach Lund predicts that with this year's added experience the Char- gers will be back on the winning track next year. The girls fought through many close games- some won. some lost. But they all came away with many special friendships and special memories, such as: Hollywood Mattson ... The gymnastic team closed the season with their second year as Wright County Conference champs, 1981 District champs, and were rated seventh in the state. There were many memories made by the team. Includ- ing early morning practices, PSYCH- UP, front sommies, handstands, sukes and twists, and walkovers. Memories that will not be forgotten. 73 Spring Sports 1980 The Spring of 1980 was an exciting time for Charger fans. Here's a few highlights: The baseball team was District Champs, and they went on to the semi-finals in Regions. They lost by one run to St. Cloud Cathedral, who went on to become State Champions. The track team sent four guys and one girl to state, each one of them coming home with medals for individual races, relay races, or both. They were Liz Backus, Dan and Dave Jorgenson, Mark Braatz, and Jerry Polzin. The golfers also had a successful season, becoming District Champs and sending Kurt Stelton to state. These are just a few of the many highlights of the Spring of 1980. Of course, many more memories were made for the individuals who participated in the wide variety of spring sports here at D-C. 74 ir K THE SEED OF A CHAMPION The seed of a champion is planted early in life; It's watered and given care. First comes the interest to go to its peak, Then comes the wear and tear. Day after day, night after night, Sweating and panting, something so hard. Years of hard training, years of hard praying. Some seeds live, and some die, But, a real champion will always survive. Along with the usual hat'n button, bib'n jersey, dress-up days, we added western and punk rock days. An old tradition was reborn with a homecoming parade with floats and the marching band.
