The functions of the Combat information Center, or CIC, are the collec- tion, display, evaluation, and dissemination of information ofa tactical and strategic nature. lt might be said- of CIC that it is the nerve center of the ship. The speed and accurary withiwhich the men in this center carry out their duties are vital to the safety and battle efficiency of the ship as a whole. Lest we forget the ET's, speaking of being in the dark, we should bring to light that these people do most of their work at night, and this goes for when they are on the beach as well as aboard ship. lt is theiob of the Electronic Technicians to maintain the gadgets, lights, and hissing and crackling that so fascinate the Radarmen.
