College of Nursing, 71. During World War II joined the Navy as a V-5 cadet only to get caught in what we called the Purge as were about 50,000 others. With two months more to go for wings was “washed only to go on to advanced Aerographers School after which served aboard the U.S.S. Santcc-CVE29 in the Pacific. After the Okinawa campaign was picked as a fleet candidate to return to take up V-12 program. On returning the war ended, so I picked up the beautiful ruptured duck and went into the steamship business. Joined West Coast Line, Inc. first as claims agent then finally operations manager until 1952 when I decided on a sales position. I joined International Paint Co.. Inc. as a sales representative. This company is the largest in the world in the manufacture of marine paints. Our yacht paints are known as Intcrlux . Recently we merged with the Red Hand Compositions Co. having purchased their assets. This merger is a most exciting venture and I’m certain will be rewarding. My organization memberships include: The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Propeller Club of N.Y., Rudder Club of Brooklyn, N.Y., The Maritime Association. Port of N.Y., Downtown Athletic Club of NY. EARL F. BALDWIN “Bud 24 Dccring Avc., Lexington. Mass. President—Lexington Lumber Corp. WIFE: Phyllis (Wheaton ’47). CHILDREN: Linda. 19. Wheaton. '73; Joan. 16, High School; Beth, 15. High School: Richard. 7, 1st Grade. Left Hanover in sophomore year. Spent three years in Air Force, ending up in Alaska and Aleutian Islands as Communications Officer. Returned to Hanover in 1946, and finished Tuck—Thayer School in 1948. After working for about a year for General Motors, entered retail lumber business in 1949. After death of previous owner in 1962, another partner and I bought the business. Active in town affairs as Director of Lexington Trust Company, member of Hancock Church Men's Club, Lexington Rotary, Chamber of Commerce. Town Meeting Member, etc. We are looking forward to retiring sometime, possibly to New Hampshire—if we ever get all the kids educated. 15

Holdcrness School, 70; Alan R., 11, 5th grade. After discharge from USMC in 1946 attended Univ. of Wyoming for Masters Degree in Geology. Worked for Standard Oil of Indiana as geologist for 2 years. In 1949, purchased 'A interest in Jackson Sporting Goods Co. in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, retail sporting goods and ski equipment. Directed Jackson Hole Ski School for 15 years. Recalled to USMC during Korean conflict. Opened 2nd store, Teton Village Sports, in 1965 at new Jackson Hole Ski Area. Active in community affairs, ski coaching, and most sports related to the outdoor life in Wyoming. Can’t make the 25th but would enjoy visiting with any 45s who happen to pass our way. WILLIAM T. ASHTON Tom P.O. Box 416. Saratoga Springs, New York President—Ashton Companies, Inc. WIFE: Jane Fullerton (Connecticut College 1946) CHILDREN: William T. Jr., 22. Dartmouth. '71; Barbara J.. 20. Connecticut College, 72; Robert S., 19, Dartmouth, 73. MILITARY SERVICE: 1943-46 U.S. Naval Air Corp Lt. (j.g.) A-l. After serving as a fighter pilot (F4U Corsairs) started business life with present firm. The company sells fuel oil, heating and air-conditioning equipment to customers in six counties in Northeastern New York State. A separate operating division is engaged in the production of ready-mix concrete serving the construction industry in the same basic area. Also a part-time banker as a vice-president and director of The Adirondack Trust Company. Summer months spent commuting daily to our place at Pilot Knobb on the cast side of Lake George. Much fun there! Can't say no activities have included presidency of Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club, 20 years as board member of local hospital, board chairman of locally-owned corporation which financed and built our Holiday Inn, board member of local golf club. As for Dartmouth, currently serves as Enrollment Director. District 46. member of Dartmouth Alumni Club of Glens Falls, N.Y. and vicinity, and a board member of the Psi Upsilon Foundation. Really enjoy getting back to Hanover for games, meetings and. now, with two sons there, lots of excuses. 14

CHILDREN: Robert Alan, 20, Dartmouth. 73; Janet Larkin, 16, Walpole High. 72. The propitious timing (only) of WW2 spared me the probable embarrassment of being thrown out of college. Followed many other D men into the Mountain Troops (10th Mtn. Div.) in Colorado, and was then ordered to Washington because of German linguistics, and there joined a French group of the OSS. Stayed with the OSS until Nov. 1945, seeing Africa, Italy, Romania and a few other odd places. Back to college in March (?) 1946, finishing in 1948. Worked briefly for Gulf Oil, and then joined father in book manufacturing business. Married in 1949 after three year courtship and 1 year engagement. Too damned long!!—but worth the wait. Was General Manager at the Norwood Press until its demise, and then went to Plimpton Press for five years. Left it for job with large consulting firm, Andcrson-Nichols Co. in Boston, at which I was Asst, to Pres. Had extremely varied assignments with Andcrson-Nichols and the Anelcx Corp. with titles along the way of Division Manager, corporate Vice President, and President of the subsidiary company ... ANco Technical Service, Inc. Finally quit fighting the Southeast Expressway, and started own business in 1968. What timing! Currently consulting in advertising, marketing, public relations, and management problems ... including major franchise operations. Being a “yes man” the only way I can review is by giving a simple listing ... with the comment that my yes-ism is still going on. Am a registered and active AHA and NIHOA hockey referee. Director of a Barbershop chorus (Walpole Baystatesmcn), former Town Moderator. Church Vestryman, Board of Governors Walpole C.C., Republican Town Committee, former Director Red Cross, Town Finance Committee. Board of Governors Country Skating Club (USFSA), Board of Governors Walpole Footlightcrs (one of the nation’s oldest theatrical groups), Society of Technical Writers and Publishers. American Institute of Graphic Arts. Bookbuilders of Boston. I steadfastly maintain I am not a joiner! My greatest pleasure has been the active and enthusiastic support of my children's activities ... most of which have been sports orientated. This, of course, involves coaching, etc. What a way to stay young! Vacations spent camping, traveling, and boating. Objective; live another 47 years in order to be able to accomplish half of what I want to do. What a fabulous, vicarious, experience having a son at Dartmouth! He was chosen (elected) Soccer Captain for Pea Green. JOHN WILDER BALL (Deceased) WIFE: Phyllis Left college to enlist in the Navy, August 1942. WILLIAM NATHANIEL BANKS JR. “Bill Temple, New Hampshire Writer After leaving Dartmouth in 1943, I served in Italy, France and Germany with the 36th Infantry Division. When the war ended I entered Yale as a Junior, majoring in Drama; and I graduated, “with philosophical orations” in 1948. For most of the past 20 years Ncwnan, Georgia, has been home base; but for the past five years I’ve divided my time between Georgia and New Hampshire, where I have a house on the green in the village of Temple. In 1959, my play, SEASON OF CHOICE, was produced in New York, and in 1964 another play. The GLAD GIRLS, had a successful run in Atlanta. THE CURATE’S PLAY, which I wrote for St. George’s Episcopal Church in New York, has been published by The Dramatists Play Service; and every Christmas it’s performed by churches of various denominations across the country. I have enjoyed several productive sessions at the MacDowcll Colony, an artists' colony in Peterborough, N.H. of which I am now a director. I’ve been active in YMCA work in Georgia, and I am a niember of the Methodist Church of Grantvillc. Ga. The Monadnock Region of Southern New Hampshire, where I now spend much of my time, offers such diverse pleasures as skiing, hunting, outdoor and indoor tennis, gardening and concert-going (there is an annual chamber music festival), and I take enthusiastic though unskilled part in all these activities. 16
