A Q42 . , T -Q DEDICA TION .A :NYE Y, V ...Wm ls Q Ao' Q. Nlr. Ward Woodward. our postmaster. is retiring from work the first of 1956. He and his wife came from Battle Creek. Michigan and they have Iixed here since 1907. Mr. Woodward is retiring after thirty-eight years of service as postmaster. We dedicate our 1955 Logger to the people who have worked many years for the good of our community. Two of these people, Ward Woodward and John Fortner, are now retiring after many years of service. Congratulations 66 to you both, and thanks from a grateful student body. john Fortner first arrived in our mountain skirted town from Argura. North Carolina in 1912. He and his wife established their home here in 1931. and since. he has lived and worked in our community. Since 1950 he has labored hard and long as our school janitor.

It has. l think, been a memorable year mainly because we did so well in sports. We only lost one game in football. one in baseball. and one in basketball in the league, and won the State Basketball Championship to boot. Not a bad record IRI say. Wie are also graduating the largest class in the history of llarrington High. sixteen girls of tllese boys in institutions All this makes a good deal. have helped to those of you your minds to and sixteen boys. and a large proportion and girls are going to further their education of higher learning, again not a bad record. me feel that we have accomplished quite antl l should like to thank the students who make the year a success. l do hope that who are returning next fall will make up do as well if not better next year. lt pays to study hard. and to play hard. the number of scholarships won by our Seniors this year Certainly proves that. So let's re- solve to make next year the best that we possibly can so that when we come to its end we will be able to be proud of it. Good Luck to the departing graduates, we will all be keeping our eyes on your accomplishmentsg and welcome to next year's Freshmen.
