Cbechica tion To those who roamed these halls short years ago, Sat in these desks, looked on the lake, and thought That life was good, the future bright with hopeg Played boyish pranks and laughed as we do now, Who put their games aside when bugles blew, Who met the challenge of a vicious foeg Who ventured forth to save a stricken world With conscience free of stain, with eyes of faith, With hearts made stout with hope, made strong wit For things that must endure and cannot die, To those who from the farthest bounds of earth And sea and sky, from flaming fields of death, From jungles deep, looked back in memories fond On scenes they knew and loved, the ones we know- Of wooded hills about a tranquil lakeg To those who free of guilt laid down sweet lives To save a guilty world and bring to sions Of other men the peace they were denied, To those, our elder brothers, known hy name, Enshrined within our hearts, we dedicate This Alma lVlater's hook in proud regard.
