The first victory registered by the Tigers was against McCallie, their foremost rivals, by a score of I3 to 2. Pitts pitched a fine game while Mashburn and McCamy were the outstanding batsmen. In the next game their opponents were the boys from Morrison Camp ground. Mason pitched a fine game while I-Iuguenin, Snelling, and Stowers went far toward helping to win the game by getting three base hits. The final score was I3 to 2 in favor of Darlington. The following game, which was won by a score of 6 to I, was played in Atlanta against Georgia Military Academy. Pitts pitched an excellent game, allowing only four scattered hits, while Warren did his part by punching the longest home run that was hit during the season The Tigers next started out to give the McCallie Cadets a good shellackrng but they were put down by a score of 5 to 4 Stowers was the stellar performer of the Tiger batsmen The next two games were probably the most exciting games of the whole season They were played against Baylor School of Chattanooga In the first of these two games the visiting Baylor team won by a score of I4 to I2 The Tigers led all through the game until the last inning and were helped very much in doing so by the three base hits of McCamy I-Iuguenrn and Warren Mason occupied the mound for Darlington The second of these two games was also won by Baylor by a score of 6 to 3 The Baylorites hit three home runs while Trotter hit one for the Lalcesiders The team showed excellent choice in electing Mashburn and McCamy as their co captains for the season .nba BASEBALL SQUAD FR NT ROW Wyl M A so W D es 'f t d MCC s Iioa 1 O flcft to right: ie Roddcy, Jarncs ason, IIi n arrcn, Ro'crt Pitts, Max Ming , Claude Stowers, Frank Hugucnin, Douglas Hackney, Charles Mashburn, and Jack Horton.
