Don t you know how to run thts lhlflgo He looked around at her and satd Look lady I just lrke to rrde that s all It was Dave McCla1n We would have lrked to talk to htm but he depostted us on the 13th floor and qutckly zoomed down agatn We started to our rooms and just as we entered the door my suttcase fell open and everythtng came tumbltng out on the hall floor Sharon and I were so trred we had begun to laugh somewhat hystertcally when the door across the hall opened and out walked of all people Beth Kelsey She was glanng at us and saytng Sh sh Then she recogntzed us saw what had happened and then we all started laughtng agatn When all the grggles had subsrded Beth told us that she was worktng as a matd for two of our for mer classmates It seemed that Ruby Bottom and Mtnnre Moffttt had formed a mght club act called Top and Bottom on the trampoltne and had gone over so btg that they decrded to htre Beth as an asststant and part Ilme matd When we satd we would lrke to see them she satd that we would have to wart ttll later because Ruby and Mtnnte worked all mght and slept tn the dayttme So we satd good bye to Beth and promtsed to stop tn at the club that mght We decrded to take a short nap before leavlng for the club but the constant poundtng from above soon put an end to that rdea After ltstentng to poundtng for about an hour and a half we dectded to tnvestt ftnally found the room and knocked trmrdly at the door We heard a whtstle blow and famtltar vorce call out O K fellas tlme out Then the door opened and we recogntzed Al Wray Al now had ten sons and made them practtce basketball constantly We were so engrossed tn our conversatton wtth Al that we hardly nottced when two of the butldtng s wtndow washers began cltmbtng tn our wtndow Suddenly we re cogntzed Penny Pearson and Jtm Frazee We all began talktng and laughmg Before we knew tt tt was ttme to start to the club As Sharon and I were gotng back to our room we were nearly bowled over by a woman ractng down the hall on roller skates and a man runmng along behtnd her shoutrng Faster faster They were followed by the hotel manager calltng Stop stop you ftends' It was Phtl Bowman He stopped Just long enough to tell us those two were Norma Burks and Dave Boone Norma was tn tratntng for the Women s Nattonal Roller Derby and Dave was her manager Phtl satd a hasty goodby and was off on hts merry chase We got ready and hurrted on to the club When we arrrved we were surprtsed to see a combo band made up of stx of our former classmates Jerry Timmons Tom Mrkesell Ron Paddack Rtchard Wxse Hubert Blaydes and Jtm Wtngate They told us they had Just cut a new record and were now maktng guest appear ances ln mght clubs The owner of the nrght club dropped over and we were surprtsed to see Melvtn Hal tom It seems he had started workrng as a walter to help pay hrs way to college and ltked tt so well he started a place of hts own Eventually practtcally the whole class of 59 had congregated at the club and we all had a wonderful ttme remtntsctng about the unforgettable days spent at D H S , . . .. . . - - -.
