CLASS PROPHEC Y In the sprrng of 1973 we Sharon Vannrce and 'vlargaret Cox planned a business trrp for Hawarr to investigate a new type of raccoon You see after graduation we had decided to go into business together rarsrng pedrgreed coons to stock the farms of all devoted coon hunters When the day of departure arrrved we boarded a plane at the Darlington Airport qDrck Cox who couldn t bear to leave Darlington had started a plastrc bath tub factory As a result Darlington had grown rnto a booming metropolis of which Drck Shelton had been elected mayor J As we stepped on the plane Sharon whispered to me she knew she had seen the stewardess some place before This didn t phase me rn the least because Sharon always thought she recognized someone she didn t know from Adam but somehow she drd look famrlrar Then we recognized Shirley Booher We talked to Shirley and learned that she had once taken a plane ride with Sam White now a commercial pilot rn Alaska and had simply fallen rn love with flying so now she had grven up everything else Just to fly every chance she got When we changed planes rn San Francisco we noticed a bedraggled lady tusslrng with seven lrttle boys Recognrzrng Peggy Peebles we rushed over to help her Peg has always wanted to be a teacher but rt seems she had eloped with her history professor and this was as close as she had gotten to teaching a group of children We arrived at the airport rn Honolulu and were hurrying through the lobby when a fella selling papers stopped and began shaking hands like mad It was Joe Perry He told us that he Phrl Clouser Harold Car and the others hrs staff but the others goofed off and spent their time flirting with women so Joe had to do rt all We bought all hrs papers and hailed a cab Much to our astonishment our cab drrver was a woman As Sharon and I rode along we remrnrsced about dear old D H S Presently the cab driver turned around with a smile and we rmmedrately saw that rt was Rrta Patton She told us she rs now co owner of the White Cab Company She deposited us at our hotel, and struggling with our luggage we climbed out of the car The doorman was too absorbed to bother with us We were rn the act of glaring rndrgnantly at him when I stopped dead in my tracks He looked so famrlrar' He was very handsome with black curly harr showing beneath hrs doorman s cap It was Charles Welrever absorbed rn inspecting a rifle whrle he patted rt lovrngly Aren t you Charles I began Women women women They all hang around me and I hate em all he broke rn Get away from me or I ll shoot you We lrterally ran to the desk and there a famrlrar smrlrng face greeted us lt was Joe Wrlson We talked awhrle and then headed for the elevator We stepped rn and asked the elevator boy for floor 13 He took us up so fast rt made my ears pop, and rnstead of lettrng us out he rmmedrately zoomed down agatn penter and Glenn Thomerson had gone out seeking a fortune, They had started a paper with Joe as editor
