CLASS HISTORY The year of 1945 was the start of mysterrous and wonderful adventures for the twenty mne srx year olds who entered Darlrngton School as frrst graders Thrs was the begrnnmg of twelve years of learnrng from books teachers and classmates Not only were we enterrng the door way to knowledge but also the doorway to makrng new frrends After twelve years we see that those once new frrends have become our permanent frrends The frrst srx years of our school lrfe were spent rn the grade school whrch rncluded the class rooms 1n the lower hall to the gymnasrum Durrng these s1x years we had watched and rdolrzed those who, but brrefly passed through our world rnto one whrch even our rmagrnatrons could not understand Thrs world as we later found out was called Jumor Hrgh Gorng upstarrs rnto the seventh grade seemed lrke the brggest step we had ever taken rn our lrves In the excrte ment of the many classrooms teachers bells and crowded hallways we soon realrzed that recess would not be mrssed Durrng our two Junror I-hgh years we had class electrons, class partres and other thrrllrng happenrngs whrch were new experrences to all of us When we were ln the erght grade our Iunror l-hgh teams won three trophres In the fall of 1954 we entered strll another world thrs one was more w1th1n our reach and rts promrses of excrtement educatron and fun were more than fullfrlled We were now Fresh menl The two most rmportant thrngs whrch happened durrng our freshman year were the day we were rnrtrated and the wrnmng of the County Tourney Jerry Darrough and LeRoy Mrkesell The hrghlrght of our sophomore year was recervrng our royal blue red and whrte class sweaters We consrdered these sweaters our most cherrshed possessron and wore them rn all krnds of weather day rn and day out Durrng our Jumor year we got our class rrngs and broke all standrng records rn magazrne sales The year was perfectly ended as we presented our Aprrl rn Parrs prom to the senror class lmpossrble as rt may seem we are now on the last road of our unforgettable hrgh school days At the begrnnrng of our Senror year we elected Mrs MCKIHSCY Mr Nrswonger and our prrncrpal Mr Bowerman as class sponsors In November we had our prctures taken at the Smrth Studro rn Attrca We have been very busy workrng on the year book so as to make rt the best Chref yet Twenty nrne senrors w1ll graduate on May I5 The followrng twelve started at Darlrngton They are Sandy Peebles Sandy Holt Dave Vannrce Lorrs Thompson LeRoy Mrkesell Leota Herm bach Patty Trmmons Joy Vannrce Don Dale Irm Edwards Lee Prckerrng and Don Mullen On May mneteenth we wrll leave on our long awarted senror trrp lt rs hard to realrze that we are no longer consrdered students of Darlrngton Hrgh School One thrng rs certarn as the years go by the school may forget us but we shall never forget the wonderful days spent at D H S I .
