Sl lllll MASS H HRV It was mdeed a br ght and sunny autumn 1n the year of our Lord 1937 that the class of 1950 f1rst entered Q., 1nto thls Hall of Learmng where we were to spend the greatest part of the next twelve years lvlrs Mae Hunt was the f1rst teacherto encounter the shlny faces whlch revealed the eagerness and cur1os1ty of the days that were to follow Dur1ng the next f1ve years we busled ourselves gett1ng accustomed to the routme of school Then came the thr1ll of go1ng upstalrs Much of our t1me 1n the seventh and elghth grades was spent trylng to declde what all the bells were for and flndmg our way around th1s g1gant1c bu1ld1ng Our days were f1lled w1th Junlor Hlgh basketball and soclal act1v1t1es 1nc1ud1ng an unsponsored class party that ended w1th a flat t1re and a long walk back to town What a thr1ll 1-hgh School' Two Freshmen class partles were enjoyed by the class and xts sponsor Mr Stwalley Tom Barton Fred Lyle Ed Leonard John and Fred B made up part of the B basketball squad for good old D H S X our lone cheerleader and aga1n we had many brave lnd1ans on the ball floor Don Goldsby was busy on the s1de11nes as student manager Class sweaters were purchased th1s year and through the courtesy of the manager of the Sunshme theater a mot1on p1cture was sponsored as our f1rst money makmg project The Mother s Club was organ1zed to help make money fora Sen1or tr1p Our sponsor was Loren Joseph The Jun1oryear was abusy one for the class of 50 The sale of magazmes began soon after the begxnnmg of the terrr' whxch ended successfully Wlth a turkey dlnner flt for a k1ng December 16 1948 a Jun1or play Just Ducky was presented After much work and plannmg the class and sponsor Mrs Surface gave the Colomal Prom on Aprml 16 W1th thls last success a Junlors we moved mto the hmgh pos1t1on of d1gn1f1ec Senlors The class enrollment as Semors was only 13 Class offlcers were chosen and agaln Mrs Surface was elected unammously to be our Senlor sponsor Class rmgs commencement mvltatxons and cards were chosen A day 1n Lafayette was spent takxng Senlor plctures and makmg a conducted tour of Purdue Un1xers1ty The greatest task of all was begun the 1950 Chlef Another show was sponsored the latter part of November The days grew bus1er and out last year of hlgh school grew shorter Maklng money for our Semor tr1p and planmng graduat1on act1v1t1es were of upmost 1mportance Craduat1on exercxses were held on May flrst 1950 We started on our Seruor tr1p ln May Graduat1on was made ablt sad as so many pleasant school day memorles came back to us W1th heavy hearts we real1ze we have spent the best years of our lmves and that we must now face the future 9 'fi 4 C .
