The girls take time out for a smile. Warming up for a hot victory. GO, FIGHT, WIN. BEAT 'EM!! It was a very successful season for the 1976 Girl's Volley- ball team this past year. The team was the biggest ever, with 27 on the J.V. team and 17 players on the varsity team. One of the big highlights of the season was when the var- sity team defeated Lancaster in one of their games for the first time. Another big event of the season was the arrival of the new volleyball standards. After defeating Iowa Grant at the subregionals, the Red- birds advanced to the regionals. Darlington defeated Dodge- ville twice and Prairie du Chien once. The team was then up against Lancaster. Despite a lot of Redbird effort and the cheering of the many fans who accompanied the team to Cuba City, the Redbirds lost both games, but placed second. The Varsity Captain was Mary Kay Wedig, and the Jun- ior Varsity's Most Valuable Player was Pam Glendenning. Both girls were elected by their teammates. Day 2, 12B
