According to Coach Bertolini, the D.H. S. tracksters did a fine job! They ran against 11 schools and the mighty Redbirds defeated 8. Gary Holmes was the number 1 scorer with 147 3 4 points, Dean Kammes and Brian Hastert came in second and third. Dean Kammes, be- ing an outstanding was only a whisker away from state, according to Coach Bertolini. The highlight of the confer- ence track meet was 1st place achieved by the Redbird mile relay team, con- sisting of Jeff Kluesner, Jerry Hardyman, Jim Bertolini and ancorman Dean Kam- mes, they also set a new school record which was later broken in the Regional Meet. Fine supporting performances were made by Brad Crapp and Mike Foley in the discus, Gary Holmes in the high jump and hurdle, and Dean Kam- mes placed 1st in the 440.
