FRESHMEN FRESHMAN INITIATION September 7, 1956 The class of 1960 was given its initiation into the Darlington High School today. The stu- dents appeared at school wearing strange- looking clothes. The girls wore boy's jeans, men's socks, their hair tightly set in pincurls with a milk hat covering it The boys appeared in girls' skirts and blouses worn backwards. Heed scarves, lipstick and earrings were also added to improve their good looks. In this garb they paraded across the football field during half-time ceremonies of the game with Reedsburg. Wearing their dressup clothes, the Freshmen appeared at the gymnasium in the evening for a mixer. They entertained the other students and faculty with many stunts. Some of the freshmen were chosen to pick their ideal mate from the audience; others had balloons tied around their waists, which they tried to break with their teeth. A relay was also presented with the freshmen peeling bananas with one hand and eating them as fast as they could. Welcome to Darlington High School, Freshies.
