Board of Education The above seven people, who are the governing body of our school, are of especial importance to the senior class, as some of them must sign our diplomas, the tokens of our labor throughout the last four years. With this in mind, and the feeling that they have given their time and labor for our benefit, we have tried to keep in their best favor, and now we shall try to prove our appreciation of their work by applying our schooling to further the needs ofthe community when we become the active part of it. Since we were now in high M - ' school, we had the same rights as the rest of the pupils and were also,.7y5f 41,42 -1-L ' allowed to take part in their activities. ' As all classes were allowed to have some pleasure mixed in with their ' i x f scholastic work, we took advantage of it by having a wiener roast several ,f..1.v M11 weeks after the beginning of school. Of course, we also had a freshman ' ' LL, party, but it was somewhat different from what had always been the rule, for the reason that we were not initiated, but only served the upper classmen at dinner. We have all had both our happy and sad moments with which we will help build our minds and bodies to reach our goal as seniors. -F. s. X xl! I '47 I ,h Rini FX1 liriwwn. ll llmxcrv, liiinl Rim' XV. I4O IQ Winning six out of seven conference games, the 1932 football season ended very satisfactorily for Darlington. This well coached and very powerful aggregation swept through the season totaling up ISO points against their opponents' 19. The first game was an easy victory at Cuba City with a score of 50-0. The Redbirds next traveled to Dodgeville for their second victory, 12-0. The homecoming game was with the over-confident Mineral Point team, who went down in defeat to the tune of IQ to 0. The following week Lancaster was defeated here by a score of 25-o. Mt. l-loreb, the first team to score on Darlington, went down I3 to 7 in a hard fought game. The last home game of the season brought forth rain-coats and rubbers, and another victory for the home team. The championship game, as usual, was with the old rival, Platteville, and was beyond a doubt the hardest fought game of the season, but it resulted in a loss for Darlington 6-0. The team loses nine letter-men this year: Adler, French, Howe, joslin, Lancaster, Morgan, Morris, Sauer, and Schulz. At the annual banquet hopes for the team of 1933 were placed in the hands of Bert Tuescher, who will succeed Captain Morgan. -W B. , 4 1 .Y . . f Jkfnafdf, - ff ., '.4 ,1 ,f' 474.74 ' -xii? s.2,J'l's,:-W' ir I' ' ' W 1 I 'J J? 3. 1 W j ,fT0vL,C-- f1fd1,4 J, ' J, ,fu fi' Blick R011-' lvlanager Defwlulh, K. The following was handed in by an ambitious senior Cwho but a senior would write suchj when asked to use the italicized words in a sentence: The maudlin man was an intrinsic prodigy and the bane of his family. In spite of the admonition of his laconic friends, he showed ludicrous gar- rulity. The subtilty of his vehement mother in her effort to clarify his penury was a resonance of her thoughts. She said he was the only one of his category with multifarious deficiencies in his ability to discriminate between the redolent essence of ephemeral flowers from graphic artificial flowers.
