SeAool âDance , ecvupca His life was gentle, and the elements So mixed in him, that Nature might stand up, And say to all the world, 'This was a man! â Shakespeare As the monument erected to the memory of the Scottish High- landers, who settled here in December of 1735, reminds us of the contributions made by them to our community, the purposed of this edition of the Highlander'' is to record the deeds of the boys and girls who, for the past year, embodied the spirit of Darien High School... the doors through which we pass... the corridors... the min- utes of socialities before class... youth coming and going... in the years to come, the yearbook will keep alive the memories gathered during the undergraduate days. It is the hope of the editor and the entire staff of this 1966 High- lander that the memorable events and activities that we have tried to capture between the covers of this book will remain with you always. 2 MR. J. H. McQUAIG 3 DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of Darien High School, dedicate the 1966 High- lander to Mr, J. H. McQuaig. Throughout our four years of high school, he has shown us many kind- nesses . . He has helped us when our grades were low; he has helped us plan our future lives; and, he has helped us with our personal problems. Most of all, he has given the efficient guidance without which the 1966 Highlanderâ would not be possible. He has willingly given his time and effort to make us become better adults. And so we dedicate this annual to him in an effort to express our deep appreciation and thanks. 4 Graduation from Teachersâ College March, 1957 Received Masters' Degree August, 1965 , â˘I  4 ,. ; â˘;.  7  A j?p  , s Ji f 2 V.⢠-f  -e .. â⢠vi â.' v: v. u ;⢠⢠v... y-  :⢠£ - . ,  â  v%.â˘Â _ - .r a 1 -.
