Text from Pages 1 - 136 of the 1956 volume:

Presented Annually by the Senior Class of Darien High School Darien. Georgia Alma Mater Down beside the Darien River Alma Mater stands. May it grace the site forever On its golden sands. Hear the chorus of the students O'er the whispering waves. May their courage be undaunted As their Scottish braves. Far above the greening stretches Of the Golden Isles, Like a tender, beauteous maiden With her sunny smile. Lift the chorus—Speed it onward. Sing her praise and then, Pledge anew our love and loyalty To our own Darien. Administration Mrs. Robert Young Superintendent McIntosh County Schools C. C. Lunsford Principal Darien High School W. E. Class Will We, the members of the Senior Class of 1956, being very proud of our position as Seniors, as well as completely exhausted and lifeless from mental fatigue, wish to take this opportunity to be- queath to our fellow sufferers, the Juniors, our most precious and valuable treasures, in hopes that they will love and cherish them more than we have. FIRST, we leave to all weak-eyed and hard hearing Juniors, our priceless first two rows in assembly. SECOND, to the brainy Juniors, we will our ability to graduate by doing as little work as possible. LAST, but by no means least, we leave ALL of The Tragedy of Macbeth . Thank Heaven! We, Jackie Bluestein and Ann Williams, will all our many responsibilities to anyone who is strong enough to carry them. I, Betty Brown, will my ability to get along with boys to Edna Rozier as she seems to be for- ever fighting them off. I, Shirley Brown, will my long curly hair to Nell Robertson. I, Dan Chapman, will my ability to play hooky and get caught to Hal Sullivan. 1, Jean Corlette, will my giggling at the wrong moment to Anne Jarriel. I, Dorothy Davis, will my pleasant personality to Gloria Poppell, even though she doesn't need it. I, Betty DiMartino, will my glasses to Jonnie Will Amerson so that she may keep a close eye on her future”. I, Mike Fischette, will my ability to win all the girls’ hearts to Larry Townsend as he hasn't won one so far. I. Billie Franklin, will my engagement ring to Melva Sweat so it will make her crushes more secure. We, Bobbie Franklin and Norma Jacobs, will our ability to write love letters in history class to the Junior girls. I. R. D. Gardner, will my way of cutting up in class and not getting caught to Bobby Carter. I. Ray Gruber, will my basketball ability to Joe Lane in hopes he will put it to good use. I. Kenneth Harden, will my crazy ideas to anybody who wishes to be a screw ball . I, Jack Lynn, will to the brainy Juniors, my ability to graduate by doing as little work as possible. 1, Leroy Moody, reluctantly will to Clarence Poppell my much used book, Women and How to Attract Them . I. Mary Ann Robertson, will my ability to hold on to one man to Frances Sumner as she hasu t learned the technique of it yet. I. Frank Wallace, will my brogue to anyone whose throat can take it. I. Bobby Todd, will my inability to get along with the fair members of the opposite sex to Dan Hawthorne. I. Wayne Truett, leave. Period! (I hope). 1, Wesley Speer, will, quote nothing to anyone . I, Louise Turner, having an undented mind and ever-talking spirit, will my brilliant grades to anyone who really needs them. I, Vivian Stewart, leave my quiet lady-like manner to Louise Cowart. I, Edward Owens, leave some of my cute looks to Clarence Mauldin, as I have plenty to spare. I, Marline Padgett, being of sore throat and dilapidated tonsils, do will my knowledge of de- bating to Martha Marsh. I, Lawrence Jacobs, will my smooth line to Billy Butler. ,v jp v.iivVtSS«v - Nell Robertson Larry Townsend Junior Class Officers President..........Dan Hawthorne Vice-President---------Melva Sweat Secretary-------Maurine Middleton Treasurer--------------Betty Jarriel Sandra Bruner Billy Butler Bobby Carter Louise Cowart Dan Hawthorne Harold Hawthorne Ann Jarriel Betty Jarriel Joe Lane Martha Marsh Clarence Maulden Maurine Middleton Clarence Poppell Gloria Poppell Nell Robertson Edna Rozier Hal Sullivan Frances Sumner Melva Sweat Larry Townsend Charles Tucker ■■■ - ■ HfD ... v!R S-- ,,..
