Four wins and two losses. The bleachers emptied and the final footsteps echoed into the night and the last game was over. The sea- son finished, the fans were gone with only the discarded empty popcorn boxes, soft drink cups and other de- bris remaining. The final second on the scoreboard clock brought an end to a confusing season. An early 4-2 mark, a closing 4-6. The dark, brown ball with laces in the middle some- times takes crazy bounces. 1 976 VARSITY FOOTBALL Scoreboard DHS OPP Jamboree Whiteland 8 6 Westfield 2 O 1 8 Speedway 7 1 6 Greencastle 8 6 Brownsburg 1 6 2 9 Cascade 36 8 Plainfield O 7 Center Grove 8 40 Mooresville 8 31 Avon 1 4 28 18 K S . However, the real magic is not in the slippers, but in the feet that wear them. Feet that have survived the long, hard hours of band camp with a' senior master ordering them about, feet on a bus, anticipating the terror of another performance, but knowing every step of a show so well and later aching while wait- ing on the results of the contest. In the end, our feet had gone through four tough contests and had come out on top-12th our of 144 bands. We've done something to be proud of! !?x - TY HIGH SCHOQL N S 5 L' 5 5 4 Qv F S 4 vu ww... It appears in art, music, drama and industry. In art, one expresses one's self through painting, drawing and crafts. 0ne's mind simply lets one create. Either playing or singing it, music is an ex- perience of creativity. Drama is still another expansion of the mind. One learns to re- late to different characters and to make sets for plays. Although not always con- sidered so, industry also deals with creativity! In building machines or working with industrial tools, one learns to use one's mind. 28 'Fir f' i 'Q 5 !V !B 5 s s 5 e I , 3 1 s i wmmx, ,X , s S M s .ME 3 E is ,. i' wrtif' me, 2 gf 2 ' , I fax 5 Q s . Near Thanks- giving, hams are bought and baskets made up to send to those whose holiday feast may not be as bountiful as ours. The Christmas parade closely follows with our group taking an active part by entering a car and some members of Tri-Hi-Y. One of the big items on the agenda is the sale of Tri-Hi-Y candy. We go carolling over Christmas vacation. Our group of girls is always popular at Nursing homes because we take the time to listen and talk to these people. ln the spring, we donate money to Opportunity Cottage and a so to our own school library to buy magazines with Tri-Hi-Y is a busy, but closely knit organization of girls who help not only others in the community, but also themselves. THE WINNING SPIRITS This organization is highly respected by not only other sportsmen and school members, but also by the community of Dan- ville. However, there is much more to the Letterman's Club than meets the eye. Bor- rowing courage from the great lion, this group presented school jacket sales to a receptive Danville school. A proof of courage comes when the members of the different s orts teams vote on their out- standing pfayer. ln the spring, these young men plan to use some of their profit from sales to take a day and -enjoy themselves after all the hard work and sweat put out in a year of tough athletic practises. A S5 BEHI D THE YELLCW BRICK ROAD The scarecrow and his brains, the tin man and his heart, the lion and his courage, the witches and their spells, the great Wizard and his power , the Land of O2 and its beauty, Dorothy leading the way down the yellow brick road with its harsh trials and happy times, have all become quite real these past few months. Harsh trials are to her followers as deadlines are to our group of bookies, happy times are equivalent to the relief L after several pages have been sent in and everyone has a chance to lean back and take a deep breath. This year has been quite unique. The future, though not filled with Dorothys, lions, tin men and scarecrows, etc., will surely, for each of us, contain a Land of Oz. ROW 1: E. Oglesby, C. Anxiety chose her victims and illness had his, but all survived the heat of the spotlight. Some relied on practice, others on horn luck to pull them through. A new girls group was formed and was christened the Tints and Tones. They Erovided the public with eautiful concerts during the year. The girls' and boys' choir had a great year as they worked to receive re- cognition and strove for their moments in concert. The Robed Choir took a new step this Christmas when they sang on the circle in Indianapolis. All of us stumbled through out half and whole step and interval tests lt all helped, however, as we proved once again our skill and love for singing. We were shocked to find that there was no halo flashing above our heads!! It was not too encouraging when we found out that the Freshmen were all taller than us!! However, all was not lost, We finally came up with a winning float, and our big mouths finally came to good use as we won the spirit jug. We were struck with the realization that we must decide on our future careers. ' Q f X s-X. FINAL RUN . . The end is near. Straining every muscle, nerves taut, every ounce of concentration is fixed on breaking the white string. Biting his IIE, the coach's finger itches to stop the watch. T ree others follow the runner, his lead is im- mense. The runner has hours of training behind him. Oblivious to the past's pains, frustrations jokes, antics, he lengthens his stride to make the final run. 120 I FOR THE RAINBOW 30927 2000917905 30927 2000917906 30927 2000917907 30927 2000917908 30927 2000917909 30927 2000917910 30927 2000917911 30927 2000917912 30927 2000917913 30927 2000917914 30927 2000917915 30927 2000917916 30927 2000917917 30927 2000917918 30927 2000917919 30927 2000917920 30927 2000917921 30927 2000917922 30927 2000917923 30927 2000917924 30927 2000917925 30927 2000917926 30927 2000917927 30927 2000917928 30927 2000917929 30927 2000917930 30927 2000917931 30927 2000917932 30927 2000917933 30927 2000917934 30927 2000917935 30927 2000917936 30927 2000917937 30927 2000917938 30927 2000917939 30927 2000917940 30927 2000917941 30927 2000917942 30927 2000917943 30927 2000917944 30927 2000917945 30927 2000917946 30927 2000917947 30927 2000917948 30927 2000917949 30927 2000917950 30927 2000917951 30927 2000920213 30927 2000920214 30927 2000920215 30927 2000920216 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 30927 Q-4-vw WKXN.
