W, Q - ' MINE S004 ru.-my Wilbur Tague won first place in the local science fair with a poster showing the Electrical Conductivity of Solutions. 12 As the emphasis on the space age grows, yes- terday's science fiction becomes today's projects and tomorrow's reality. DHS prepares it's students for the future through a variety of scientific studies. The study of science is one of the most compli- cated and interest-arousing series of courses offered at DHS. Four years of scienceareoffered to students in the areas of biology, physical science, chemistry, and physics. These courses put the solutions for the problems of the modern world closer to the present.

Students Study World Problems i' 5 S.. .. 'flux Governments of the world furnishes students withabetter knowledge of governments throughout the world. Eighth grade students review their lesson for Mr. Leedy's test. Current events, oral and written reports are a part of the social science program, U.S. and World history create an appreciation of American civilization through acomparison ofthe past to the present. Social and political foundations and the financing of American government are studied in the citizenship and government classes. 11

in Midst of Atomic ond Spoce Age Advanced algebra trains students to reason intelligently for future occupations. In today's complex world of facts and figures, a study of mathematics is extremely important. Algebra, geometry, and trigonometry are disciplines to straight thinking and intelligent reasoning as pupils prepare, not only for a college education, but for all phases of American living, Anticipating the need for a strong rnathematic background in the fast moving space age, students prepare themselves for a suc- cessful future by studying the courses offered at D,H,S, Our math teachers stimulate interest and guide the students through courses in algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
