The class of 1929 was the first class to graduate from the South Washington Street Building and the class of 1959 will be the last. During the spring of 1958, construction was begun on the new high school building on the ground of the former Central Normal College. This building will be ready for use in the fall of 1959. The South Washington Street Building, used as a high school for thirty years, will now be used as a grade school. CENTERED ON FUN AND EXCITEMENT El The change from junior high into high school is being discussed by freshmen, Tom Helton, Penny Terry, Ken Sale, and Judy Rodney. A teenager's life overflows with interests and is occasionally interrupted for a brief battle with the books. Staying up late to cram for final examinations and doing an experiment over until it works are all part of school and growing up. John Shelton, Norman Dininger and Larry Lothridge, sophomores used the library, a quiet place to study. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENT Mrs. Elmer Koch, representing the TriKappa, awarded Marcia Pritchard and Tim Sale a placque for highest scholastic achievement in the senior class. At the annual award night the outstanding teach- er of the year and outstanding students were honored. AND ENCOURAGED LEADERSHIP Byron Wilson, Allen Hearn, Verletta J ack- son, and Amy Harvey do an experiment in chemistry class. .Tim Higgins, Julia Leavitt, J'udy Martin and .T ere Crawley conduct an experiment in physics class. Danville High School offers unlimited opportunities for the stu- dent who applies himself to his studies. The science department is equipped to aid the student and help him achieve success.
