.Dealica tion We, the MEDLEY staff of 1951, gratefully acknowledge the faithful service and friendship of Miss Dolpha Parker and Miss Edith Markley, who have completed their teaching careers, by dedicating this forty-eighth volume of THE MEDLEY to them. Miss Dolpha Parker came to Danville High School in the fall of 1917. She has served as the head of the Home Eco- nomics department and the past few years has been a guid- ance counselor for freshman girls. Every girl who has been closely associated with her fully appreciates her sweet smile and her charming personality. Miss Parker will be greatly missed at D.H.S. Miss Edith Markley graduated from Danville High School and after several years came back here to spend thirty years teaching in her chosen field, foreign languages. Her fluent ability to converse in and to make attractive French and Span- ish will long be remembered. For a time she taught Latin, but for the most of her teaching career she has been interested in the modern languages and has served as the head of that de- partment. An active adviser of International Club, she helped to establish it in our school. Miss Markley's absence will be deeply felt at D.H.S. To both of these fine people we say thanks for your fine job and inspiration to us and au revoirf, E31

'le alle As time goes by, memories fade into the past and are forgotten. We have designed our ,51 Medley that you might bring back some of those forgotten memories of the best years of your life, those years spent at Danville High. We are taking you back to that whirl of teen-age activity at D.H.S. As you enter the building you meet our faculty, the teachers who instilled in us a yearning for knowledge. You meet behind-the-scenes workers, you take a glimpse into each organization in the month of the year we thought it was most outstanding. Homecom- ing was in November, Moments Musical in March. We left the classes to the month of Iune, at which time they prepare to move up a notch. We know this is an en- tirely different theme for a yearbook, but that,s what we wanted! We hope that it accomplishes its purpose. We hope you like it! -THE EDITOR. I2l
