Then, as in the next game at the Kankakee field. fuznhles hindered the Danville attack. The Maroons were host next to Urbana for their first win and their first conference game. Both offense and defense were up to par and the Maroons took the game 26-6, scoring their first touchdown on the very first play of the game. Powerful Thornton of Ilarvey completely dom- inated the next encounter 34-O. Champaign. Danville's oldest rival. did it again as they handed the Maroons their worst defeat of the year 54-0. Although the football season ended with Danville winning two and losing seven, the team, hampered hy injuries and in a slightly tougher schedule, earned credit for their fine defensive work and their enthusiastic spirit. Traveling to Mattoon, the Maroons scored against the Creen NVave hut the game ended 12-6 in favor of Nlattoon. The next Week they suc- ceeded in holding a highly favored Streator team to only one touchdown and found their defensive plays were beginning, to pay off. ln the homecoming game they edged out Clin- ton, Indiana 6-0 to help make the celebration a success. In the last game of the season the Maroons gave the Springfield Senators a scare, almost up- setting them 13-12.
