Behind the scenes at D.H.S., the cafeteria staff and maintenance staff kept things running smoothly. This year the cafeteria was under new direction, with Mr. and Mrs. Cole taking it over. Though these workers were seldom noticed, they performed a valuable serv- ice to the school, and we did appreciate them greatly. Special mention should go to Mr. Techtow and Mr. Alhert Ullis, who are retiring this year. Mr. Techtow has served as second floor custodian for the past few years. Nlr. Ollis had heen an invaluable stage custo- dian for the past twenty-five yearsg many a curtain has he run up. Our thanks have been given to all these people. ain tenance Iieliriug: Miss Boord, Nlr. The main purpose of Parent Teachers Association was to acquaint the parents with the teachers who instructed their children, and to further more interest in students' activities by keeping the parents informed. Students and outside speakers made tl1e P.T.A. meetings interesting and worthwhile for the members. This year the parents were taken on a tour of the high school building that they might view the facilities available for the students and better under- stand their needs. Officers of the association for the past year were the following: President, Mrs. M. V. Courtneyg lst vice-president, Mrs. Dazey, 2nd vice-presidentg Mr. E. D. Milhong secretary, Miss Donna Stuebeg and treasurer, Mrs. R. C. Gerrard. 171. Reed ,J Office The keeping of files and secretarial work of our superintendent. Mr. Reed. was capably and eliicieutly done, tor we have some workers who rate with the best in that office. Like the main olfiee assistants. these workers receive little recognition of their efforts dur- ing the year. but we really did appre- eiate their work, which kept our school running so smoothly. 0 ficea l 45 b ft it Mrs Quick Mrs. Lewis, Miss Harmeson A great deal of credit should be given to those workers in the D.H.S. offices, for without their help the school would have been greatly handicapped. Theirs were little publicized organizations and little known to the students around D.H.S., but they did many of the thankless jobs around Danville High School which make it the great high school that it is today. The class records, honor rolls and things which mean so much to us had been carefully kept by these workers, in Mr. Milhon's office. As manager of the Business Office, Mr. Hayes tirelessly performed his many duties, always with a smile on his face. An extra amount of patience was required during the football and basketball season, when he tried to issue tickets fairly so that everybody might have a chance to attend. To Mr. Hayes we gave a salute of appreciation for all his efforts. Also to Mr. Newtson we were grateful for his willingness to help in the Business Office. Mr Nlcwtson Mr. Hayes E211
