HELEN FREEMAN— Mrs. Freeman was a part-time instructor at Danville Junior College from 1948 until 1967 when she joined D.J.C. s full-time staff. She has taught Rhetoric and Communications in all three departments of the college, and this year has been teaching Rhetoric in the Baccalaureate Oriented Department. Her first eight years of teaching experience were in grade schools in this area. For twenty years she taught at Danville High School. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Illinois. She has also earned credit hours at six other colleges in Illinois and Indiana. She has held managerial positions nine or ten years for four of Danville ' s business houses. One of her special interests is Music. She has sung in several choirs and choruses in this area and prepared music appreciation programs for Danville Musical Cycle for sixteen seasons. RETIRING TEACHERS Wit. s WALTER SMITH— Mr. Walter Smith has been teaching Speech, English, and Psychology at Danville Junior College since 1965. Previously he was on the faculties at Bennett College (N. Carolina), Kittrell College (N. Car.), Samuel Houston College (Texas), and Wilberforce University (Ohio). He received his B.A. at Morgan State College (Baltimore) and his M.A. at Colum- bia University. As a member of the Research Staff at the University of Illinois, he joint-authored the study, PERCEPTIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY BY FRESHMAN AND SOPHOMORE ENROLLEES OF THE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES. On the Research Staff at the United States Air Force at the Aerospace Medical Laboratory, he joint-authored one of its major publications, DEVELOPMENT OF QUALITATIVE AND QUAN- TITATIVE PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION. He has earned advanced credits at Harvard University, Ohio State University, Fordham University, University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin, and Illinois State University.
