The Chamber of Commerce and townspeople had established the Mary Miller Scholarship in her honor. Above, President-Elect William Langas presents this scholarship to President Miller, while Mr. Harold L. Defenbaugh, president of the Chamber of Commerce looks on. PRESIDENT ' S MEETING President William Langas is shown above with Mr. Russell Guin, Chairman of the Danville Junior College Board of Trustees, at the President ' s Session held September 5, 1972. Mr. Langas became the second president of Danville Junior College July 1, 1972. Since 1969 he has served as Director of Faculty and Instruction at D.J.C. He served as Chairman of the Social Science Depart ment from 1966 to 1969. He received his bachelors and his masters degrees at the University of Illinois. He has appeared in Outstanding Educators of America (1970), and is a member of the American Association for Higher Education, American Association of Junior Colleges, Communi- ty College Social Science Association, Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, and Phi Theta Kap- pa. INTEREST IN STUDENT ACTIVITIES Since 1966, President William Langas, a former student at Danville Junior College, has had a great interest in student activities and welfare. His interest in foreign students is indicated by the scenes above, in which he congratulates Jaime A. Marzana, Jaime ' s mother and father (from La Paz, Bolivia) and Jaime ' s wife, on the occasion of Jaime ' s receiving his Associate Degree at Dan- ville Junior College, June, 1972. Also above. TESTIMONIAL DINNER FOR PRESIDENT MARY MILLER On the evening of April 17, 1972, President Mary Miller was honored at a Testimonial Dinner at the Danville Elks Country Club. Miss Miller, who became President Emeritus September 1, 1972, was honored for 25 years of service in giving Danville a junior college.
