The Distributive Education Club of America is designed to promote leader- ship development in marketing and distribution. Students in this program manage a school store which specializes in school supplies. Mr. Cun Pizzo Advisor The National Honor Society This has been a big year for bake sales. We should be able to exceed last year's fund raising efforts, and we plan to award $400 in scholarships. Many of our members are helping the League of Women Voters to conduct a housing survey. RICHNESS IN House I Senate Mr. Anthony Spadorcia - Housemaster Advisor, Donna Finnis, Monica Brooks. Still in its formative stages, the House I Senate attempts to foster school and house spirit, and serves as a forum for student concerns in House 1. House II Senate STANDING: Mr. Arthur Johnson - Housemaster Advisor, Scott Minahan. John Deminski, Bill Hewitt. SEATED: Cathy Thom- son. The House II Senate is comprised of 17 young men and women who represent the House II student body. Their roles include keeping the housemaster informed about student needs and concerns as well as organizing and implementing worth- while house projects and activities. House III Senate BACK ROW: Miss Patricia Chisholm - Advisor, Jim Ciman, Eric Grabowski, Bill Bellino. Laura Hubley. FRONT ROW: Chris Taylor, Leslie Varadi, Bruce Gungle. House III, the winning house in the Magazine Drive, has been running its annual ping-pong tournament during second semester. Several House III Senators have panicipated in stu- dent-exchange days with other high schools. Besides such activities as the Guest Speaker Series, the senators were actively concerned with these issues: The Activity Room Pro- gram. Open Cafe Studies, the late bus, the lunch program, the smoking area. House IV Senate Linda Thomell, Marie McCall, Jack Arnoldy, Kathi Ruta, Kris Hilliard, Mr. Tom Witham - Advisor. Mrs. Mary McLaughlin - Housemaster. Our house Senate has worked to improve morale and to develop greater school spirit. Wc worked long and hard to arrange an assembly by the Navy Band: unfortunately, the Navy backed down. We arc continuing to work for further house and school activities. 108

COMMUNICA TION The International Language Club is an activity which involves stu- dents from all the languages: French. Spanish. German, and Latin. Our goal is to enhance the knowledge and appreciation of other peoples as we assume a closer relationship with the countries of the world. As an example, one of our most rewarding experiences at the end of this year will have been the planning of functions to benefit the stricken people of Guatemala. The television studio has been a center of student activity all year. Several hundred students have been involved with television productions including class projects, WDHS News, What's Happening, sports and musical remotes, and instructional television productions.
