Class Ilisv,ci-y of »40 Looking back on the past and f orv ard into the future, we realize that f-ere have been nany obstacles which have confronted each of us and V orowill be even ' ore to come; butas we ha¥e overcome those in the past , let us do even more to gain the last milestone on the w-y and come out victorious over all. As Freshmen we v ere the largest class that Dante Central High had ever had. .le were very fortunate in having ' Ir . Ferguson introduce us into our new filed of v ork, and v e can truthfull 3 say that his advice has been good throughout our higl school years and v ill continue to be in the future. As Sophomores v e remained ab-rnit the same s we were f ' e first year. In our Sopho ' iore year we felt more im- portant as some of our talented classmates moved into the spotlight of school life, Billie South., in h ' lst year, c ' rriedaway the trophy for the county sight reading con- test and Henry Kinserwon the honor of being the most ath- letic boy in high, school. As Juniors our numiber decreased almost one-half. Hanv ' of our members suddenly decided to seek employment, some married, and about ten i ere transferred to Castle- w ood to attend school there. In t:’ls year we felt that v ;3 were at the peak of our high s c ' ' ' ool career. The Basketball teaim, which, was said to be the greatest Dante had ever eroduced, consisted of three of our members. . They v. ere ' ' ' arie Bing, Gladys Smith, and Ilary Elizabeth Thompson. Hary Elizabeth Thompson also won the county recitation contest. Still striving to roach the highe ' t goal, we came back in 39 and the title of Seniors fell upon us. This class has participated in all school activities. Soma ■ ' inning honors and all ot’iers doing mood work. Two plays, ”Jh.aia’s Baby Boy”, and ’’The Haunted Ga ' tlo”, v;ere present- ed; also tv o dances given, to raise money for our needs. To Hiss Huso l ' .o has boon v ith. us througbi all our liigh school years v;o leave our appreciation, love, and hopes for a brilliant future. Hay 29, 19401 Its our graduation day, the da to- wa.rd which, wo have been loo ' iing, yet dreading, si.nce our first day of school. As ;e go on our individual ways vjo may forgot some of the trivial dttails regarding cur high, school lifo, but thou hilts of the ms.n ' friendships culti- vated and the ' worthwhile ei ' poriences gained v ill co ' ce back occ ' sionally and remind us th .t, though separated, we v ill comprise a group of as cooperative friends as ever left dear ole Dante Ce ' ntral H igh”.
