DEDICATION ln this ever-changing world of satellites and proiected space travel, the human race has become engaged in a struggle for achievement, achievements beyond present comprehension, achievements which are theoretical as well as practical. Our future security lies in the education of our youth, so that they will have the knowledge to meet these challenges and the ability to maintain a steady course toward those goals of world brotherhood and lust international economics and politics. A Thus to education, the very essence of civilization, we dedicate the l959 Warrior. U K 74K!e4,faazww X I. These students open doors to many services in the community and -abroad. The student librarians, the office and bookstore staffs are ever ready to take care of our wants. The proiectionists make it possible for teachers to use films to make the work more interesting and to increase the understanding of subiect matter. The stagecraft boys provide an indispensable service by making sets for the plays, the assemblies, and the Talicade. Last, but not least, are the custodians who keep the buildings and the campus sparkling clean. Without the services of these many groups, the school could not be efficiently maintained. Because of a long list unpredictable three games winning oppo four of their of iniuries and a severe lack of depth, the status of the team was during the early part of the season, Two losses came in the first vvillt a total of only 7 points separating the Warriors and their nents. Webster staged a fantastic comeback, however, winning last five contests. Three of these four victories were shutouts in which the opponents were outscored, 97-O. The biggest thrill of the year came when we played Okmulgee and Edison. i -- fl The Warriors scored the second highest number of points in the school's his- tory while trouncing Olcmulgee 46-O. The 1940 team racked up 57 points against Broken Arrow in a victory that saw Coach Marvin Martin, then a guard for Webster, intercept a pass and race' 42 yards for a touchdown. In the final game with the fifth-ranking Edison Eagles, our hard-fighting Warriors, resting in the 19th slot, mauled the high flying Eagles 30-14. This unexpected triumph vaulted the Warriors into number nine position while Edison dropped to fifteenth. Elected to the All-Conference teams were Gene Hart, Dan Howard, Don Scroggin, John Estes, and Ron Lancas- ter. The last three were selected also for the All-City first team, and Gene Hart and Brice Smith, for the second team with Leroy Chandler, Dan Howard, Larry Bohannon, and Bill McKee receiving honorable mention. This is a fine tribute to our efficient coaching staff headed by Marvin Martin with Harol Beisel and Gene Ross assisting. MR. Although the team lost six games out of the first nine, in only two of these was the margin over four points. With backline gunners Gene Hart, Leroy Chandler, and Ronnie Lancaster recovering from a strenuous football cam- paign, the Webster quintet did not iell until the second game with Booker T. Washington. After suffering a one- MR. BILL ALLEN point loss to the city champs in that contest, Webster fans saw the warriors come through with a series of wins to tie for first place in the Oklahoma Six Conference. This year's roundballers, again under the efficient coach- ing of Bill Allen, achieved success through a well-balanced scoring attack which saw all five starters take individual scoring honors in at least one game. Leading the scoring parade were Myrle Calmus and LaDon Radford with Le- roy Chandler, Gene Hart, and Glen Brown following close behind. Selected for the All-City first team were the War- riors' key men, Myrle Calmus and LaDon Radford.
