What should it contain? To the Yearbook Staff the summary lead -the first paragraph of a news story-is the answer. A summary lead states briefly all the important facts: What Happened? When? Where? To Whom? Why? ln the l958 WARRIOR we have attempted to give a summary, through word and picture, of every phase of school life that has contributed to our all-around de- velopment. May the accomplishments of this year serve as a challenge to make each succeeding year even better. Next on the agenda were the election of the foot- ball queen attendants, Patty Watwood and Zelinda Woolsey, and the Warrior Brave, Ronnie Lancaster, and the presentation of the successful play Night of January I6. Perhaps the most excitement displayed was over the selection of senior rings. Members represented us well in all-school organizations and sports. Outstanding events of the second semester were the well-planned class party given in February, the beautiful prom held, May 23, in the Student Union Building at University of Tulsa, and the election of officers for the senior year-a year we hope to make even more eventful. Topping the list of important events were the election of competent class officers and cabinet members, the presentation of a three-act comedy, and the class party. Members furnished their share of talent for the assemblies and the Talicade. Attractive Carol Ross and Judy Sappington were chosen football queen attendants, and popular Ronnie Rice, the Warrior Brave. Highlighting the season were the victories over Bartlesville and Edison. Named on the All-City and the All-Conference teams were Dick Corley, guard, and Bobby Lancaster, half- back. Dick Corley made the All-State squad, too, with Ronnie Lancaster, and Jerry Admire receiving special recognition and honorable mention respectively. Much credit should be given to our fine coaching staff headed by Mr, Marvin Martin. 9 MR. MARVIN MARTIN as Q--,Q f xl is .I , - fi. MR. GENE ROSS MR, HAROLD BEISEL Upper left. He was fortunate in having two seniors, Jerdy Henderson and Vernon Ryan to carry the load. ln the regional tournament at Webster each placed fourth in the l36 pound and 130 pound class respectively. They were advanced to the state tournament held at Perry. ln dual meets Webster lost eight matches. We were edged out by Bristow and Will Rogers but defeated Edison and Blackwell. The boys, how- ever, gained the necessary strength and ex- perience to build a stronger team for next year. Pictures, top to bottom: Bobby Wadlow remains in command of Blackwell opponent. Vernon Ryan handles Blackwell foe with ease. Blackwell boy hustles but Jerry Barton stays on top. Jerdy Henderson earns five points toward a Webster victory. Mg., N ,1 ... YA. K' 'Y' . W WHY has Webster's educational program been effective? Education is the bridge to the future. Those who approach that bridge have different capabilities, different traits of character, and different ambitions. Our program has been adapted to meet these individual differences, thus assuring each a bridge to the future. WHY has l957-58 been a successful school year? We attribute this success to the wise guidance and tireless effort of our faculty members who helped us attain the goals set forth in our Student Creed. STUDENT CREED As a student of Daniel Webster High School I will do my best to promote and maintain an enthusiastic school spirit and school loyalty, to dispel ignorance with learning and to strive for the highest scholastic attainment of which I am capable, to help create and advance a high standard of citizenship among my fellow students, to have the courage to follow the right even though I stand alone in doing S07 to be worthy of the best fellowship of the student body and to conduct myself in such a manner that I shall never bring shame upon my school, to serve God and my'country to the best of my ability. May you remember and, cherish the challenges, the accomplishments, and above all, the friends at Webster High School. 1957-58-A YEAR TO REMEMBER r 1 ' J . wi. x'-'f' in A, xx I., A ' I ? f his Auiagraphs Auiagraphs Aufvgraphs l Auingraph Thr Bm vurhouk: Am TAVLOR MADE TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY DALLAS.
