THE BEAUTIES OF NATURE Last year we had a wonderful sum¬ mer, heat and rain causing beautiful flowers to bloom in the smallest gar¬ dens. Nasturtiums and hollyhocks, intermingled with sweet peas and dahlias, made a riot of color. The grass was green and the sun warm; you thought then that never was there a time more lovely. Autumn came: Gradually the leaves became a rich yellow and the berrie: ripened into deep red. A long walk in the woods portrayed tall tree: massed with yellow and a thick car pet of leaves underfoot. Fresh snappj mornings greeted you on your way to school. But after a few days of rather de pressing rain, the work-a-day worlo left its gray, drab surroundings, tc become a veritable fairyland. Crysta trees lined the boulevards and tin grass had little diamonds twinkling rainbow colors in the sun. But that did not last; one morning soft snow had covered the world like a white velvet cloak.
