92 JV Hard Work Pays Off A frustrated Judy Nealy loses her dribble. After many unsuccessful seasons, this year's Junior Varsity Girl's Basketball team showed promise. Under the leadership of captain and high scorer Amy Delgrosse, this team has proved victorious after many nerve wracking games. Following the suc- cessful 1984-85 season, Coach Lykens proudly proclaimed I am very pleased with the efforts and accomplishments of the girls. The 1984-85 Girls' Basketball Team achieved a goal reached by no other girls' team before them. Playing most of the season as the underdogs because of their lack of height, the Lady Blazers surprised everyone by capturing the Division l title. Coach Shuey stressed defense and it paid off as the Blazerettes received recognition as the best defensive team in the area. Leading scorer Wendy Davis tallied 38 pts. against Wyomissing to break the county freshman record for most points in a single game. She was also named Athlete of the Week by the Reading Eagle- !Times. The team will never forget their big win against Central Catholic and stopping at the Oley Dairy.
