Michelle Sparkles And Shines On October 6, 1984, I had the opportunity to participate in the Berks County lr. Miss Pageant. I represented Daniel Boone along with 20 other contestants from Berks County schools. The lr. Miss program, held nationwide, judges contestants on personal interviews, scholastic ability, talent and physical fitness. Local pageants award scholarships and prizes in each category. Tension mounts as the audience and contestants anxiously await the iudge's results. l'll never forget my excitement when they announced my name as the physical fitness award winner. Other memories I have of lr. Miss include: a swim party, softball game and many hours spent of rehearsing for my talent presentation, a dance routine to the song Dancing in the Sheets. Iwould like to thank my family and my friends for their understanding and support during the months I spent as Daniel Boone's lr. Miss representative. Those special times and the many lasting friend- ships will be a part of me forever.
