Private jokes, secret pranks, certain songs, and special friendships remain as unforgettable as the events themselves. Together the members create a way of doing things that will be remembered long after they separate. Activities 25 Players Concentrate On That Crucial lVlove Led by Seth Riegel and advisor lVlr. For weeks, great minds and lots of hard work combined and suddenly, in the D.B.H.S. library, an exciting reaction took place. The product: terrific exhibits by students and teachers! This explosion of learning produced bacteria growth, electrolytes, radioactivity, and even the effect of rock music on plants. Asif by magnetic force, students gravitated towards the makeshift lab- oratory. Each time the library door opened, a bit of dangerous knowledge escaped into the atmosphere. The good news: another science fair is planned for next year. Science Language Students Blend Cultures What happens when French, German, and Spanish students get together? The result is an explosion of fun, food and learning! Each respective club explores new areas of culture individually, but plans exciting experiences to hold the framework together. The German Club celebrates Oktoberfest, French Club has a Christmas party, and Spanish Club raises funds for their upcoming trip. Each club dines at a European-style restaurant or at the clubs' major cooperative pro- ject, the International Dinner. Students have fun sampling cultures and hardly realize the valuable things they learn. The victors display their spoils atter their apple bobbing battle. SrttrngfT. Manani, K, Saylor. M. Weidner, D. Outstanding Musicians Spotlighted This year, two members of the Daniel Boone Choir gained positions in the Berks County Chorus. Auditions determined which students would participate from the vari- ous schools in the county. The selected vocalists then rehearsed for a concert which displayed their talents. The concert took place on January 26, 1985, at Twin Valley High School. The 1985 District Chorus Festival, hosted by Wilson High School on January 17, 18, and 19, 1985, spotlighted Jeff Riegner, the sole Daniel Boone participant. During the time of the festival, Jeff enjoyed staying with a host family. The district vocalists rehearsed extensively throughout the festival and performed in concert. Miss Robin Frenz, a rioted vocal director, conducted the group. Each year musicians from the Berks County Schools gather to audition for a seat in the Berks County Band. To acquire a position in the band, students must appear before judges who evaluate their skills in sight reading, solos, and scales. The students chosen for the ensemble then take part in rehearsels. Daniel Boone placed four musicians in the ensemble this year. The band performed in concert on January 26, 1985, at Twin Valley High School. Guest con- ductor Arthur Chodoroff, band director at Temple Universi- ty, led the band through their performance. The District Band includes talented members from schools in seven neighboring counties. This year three students from Daniel Boone successfully auditioned for a place in this select group.
