Scholarships, leadership, character, and service plus a 3. O cumulative aver- age are the requirements for member- ship in the NHS at Daniel Boone. Our chapter experienced an outstand- ing and productive year in 1975-76. A record breaking number of students, fifty-one, were inducted, and the total membership reached an all time high of eighty-six young men and Women. Two applicants, Patricia Seifrit and Sue Schatz, entered the NHS Scholarship competition after being chosen to repre- sent Daniel Boone on the national level. A successful bake sale was held at Christmas. The proceeds provided two fifty dollars government bonds for deser- ving senior members elected by the society. A school landscaping and beautifica- tion service project vvas undertaken by the membership. Highlighting the year was the second annual Induction Dinner and Candlelight Ceremony attended by over tvvo hundred arents and members Mrs Woodring p . . and the officers of NHS conducted the fes- tivities. Y-TEE Eileen DeWald, editor of the 1976 Orion, receives the check for the color picture on page 1 . Y-Teens is a fun-filled service organization which in volves its members in all types of school and community activities. Decorating the halls for Santa 's arrival and treating senior citizens at a Christmas tea were among the fall projects this year, Y-Teens also helped create a first at Daniel Boone by donation money for the year- book's Erst colored picture.
