Many Glad THE purpose of this club was to awaken the interest of the students in reading all types of books, Any student could join the club as a private, and by reading ten books be raised to the rank of corporal and so on. up the Army scale. By this method. students were encouraged to do more reading than the usual required school books. The school library put many new books on its shelves in order to help promote a greater interest in reading among not only the members of this club but among the whole school body. 25 Glad THIS busy club produced a one act play and a series of sketches in addition to traveling to New York to see the latest professional productions. Although this club is comparatively new, it has become one of the most active in the school. The members meet weekly to study not only the production of plays but also the writing of them and the designing of costumes and stage sets. Ofhcers arez President. 'Glad THE COMMERCIAL t1LLiB has the distinction of being the largest club in D, H.S. It boasts over two hundred and twenty-five members. out of which approximately one hundred and fifty are Seniors. The club this year put on two Cabaret dances and a Defense Dance. an original idea in which the admittance to the dance was a Defense Stamp. These dances received the patronage that anything sponsored hy the well organized Cioinmertial filuh usually gets.
