'QV iw cestors Its appearance or its use and no class save l928A could have met anything so new and conquered rt so t rlllnantly As semor electron day drew near Miss Webb declared that she drd not choose to run This startling an nouncement threw the femrnlne polltl cal machlne lnto disorder and the old regime returned Wrllram Foley wrth two years of admlmstratron experience as treasurer was advanced to the presr dent s office and Miss Webb was draft ed to assist as Vice President Miss Morgan contmued as Secretary and Lewis Tappan was made Treasurer Foley made good rn short order and l928A was once more solidly organ ized Helped by l927B It won both the tlcket sellxng contest and the track meet The hrst class to speak Phllomusa speeches before the entrre student body the first to wrestle with the Dal ton plan the first to face a whole yea of cold lunches l928A not only set an evample that all classes will do well to follow but found tame to do more than D H S newspaper rn which work Geraldrne von Cal learned the fine art of bossrng to wnte for the Chronrcle the school magazme and to make plans for the publrshmg of a Year Book A descrlptron of the work done for this Year Book would alone fill a fat xolume No member of 1928A will ever forget nts benefit movle on Mav I3 I9 7 As has been sand the class was small rn membership and the task of selling tickets enouvh to pay for the leased theatre proved a tremendous one Presrdent Foley s harr turned grav and he had nnghtlv vls'ons of hemg cast mto a dungeon for debt be fore hrs salesmen could assure hlm that the prcture would h a v e spectators enough to show a proflt l928A made good once more however and the film of Sweet Rosle O Grady yielded the hrst money for the Year Book fund The Enemy the school play of th Sensor B semester revealed the hrstn omc abllltres of Vlrgrnra Davrs Gerald me von Gal Frances Hatch Wnlllam Mull Foley and Vxtot Vosrlus whose wont once more emphasrzed therr class un surpassed versatnlxty ln September l9Z7 after three and one half years of success the class en tered rts Semor A semester and freely admitted that lt was had been and al ways would be the best class that D H S knew and contmued to make good therr claims to such greatness by gammg new honors The year book became an assured publlcatron grrls of the class were formed mto the school s first honor study group rn FI where they spent fourth period worknng wrthout a proc tor the class gave the only social grven all during the semester and followed It later with a magnificent Senior Prom the class gave the school nts hnest cheer leader Ann Bennett and It led all the other classes rn school spxrrt at games l928A honor students were an nounced rn November and just as everyone expected nearly half the class were ln the first and second groups Wrthout doubt 1928A rs the most ex cellent of all classes ln fact It hold that several members of the 192 7B class came back to graduate ln It ln the school play of its Senior A semester William F o l e y Frances Hatch Ann Bennett Dora Lyman and Vrtot Vosllus had the leading parts rn The Cat and the Canary and scored hut as o n l y 1928A actors and actresses could have scored The hnal emsode rn the hrstory of this class goes also to show how orlgmal and radlcal It was m comparison to all others who have preceded rt After a long dns cussron concerning whether or not l928A should graduate rn caps and gowns rt was decrded by a vote of more than two to one to wear them All other classes had been too conserv atnve It has remained for thas class to show the wav And thus has the hrstorv of 1928A begun There IS no doubt but thus class will soon be as outstanding rn the hr torv of the world as rt has been ln that of Danbury Hugh School page eleven X I .I. 3 s 5 . . . . , . . . . . . 1 . .
