Surf And Sand Provide Relief l dan't think l could ever be totally happy without the beach, said freshman Susan White, explaining why the beach was so important for her survival. lt gives me a place to socialize, run around, relax, and just be myself, she added, reflecting the views of many of her peers. Even in the cooler days of fall, winter, and spring, beach-loving students managed to visit their favorite beaches for surfingiflxfolleybdj, frisbee, jogging, swimming, socializing, and just getting away from the dcudgeries of school. As crowds multiplied, causing problems in parking and towel-space, increasing numbelfsof students escaped to the harbor for peace and a little bit of sailing, jet-skiing, and, windsurfing. Even for those students who weren't avid 'beach-bums , the ocean and beaches still often provided the center around which work and social life revolved. The beauty and easy access of the Southern California coast provided a place of refuge for school-weary, work-weary Dana ---LF Hills students. few ,
