Kinnander, N. Sandoz, B. Gadourah. 5 Anna Thorn enjoys a Sunday afternoon on her windsurfer. O. Graceful Helena Aberg finds skating an erjoyable break from her busy routine in Sweden. Clubs Ls., European Cultures Enhance Students' Awareness Ms. Christa Psenau, German teacher, founded a German Club this year. To her surprise, fifteen members joined, forming an outgoing group. They held fundraising events where they sold German food, then traveled together to German restaurants. The German Club president, Jim Bartlomain, said that their monthly meetings helped the students to speak German better. ViceAPtesident Phil Andrews and Secretary Kym Overton organized the printing of German Club t-shirts, and overall, the first year was a success. Kym Overton commented, The German Club had enthusiastic people who made our club great. The Dana Hills French Club was more active this year than it has ever been in the past. The students are very enthusiastic, remarked Mr. Girault, the advisor. Kathy Carlton Cpresidentb, Lisa Milburn Cvice-presidentD, Jill Bierman Csecretaryb, and Lora Epperson Cactivities director? organized monthly meetings to plan field trips. The purpose of their trips was to learn about French culture and to practice speaking more fluently. Club members went to French movies and ate at French restaurants to enhance their knowledge of the language. Because no fundf raisets were planned,the students had to pay for each event in which they participated. The French Club president, Kathy Carlton, remarked, French Club is a fun way to supplement the students' French Class. This year S.S. Field Study was a 28-member club advised by Mr. Stevens. The club met once a month before Christmas and weekly thereafter. Student leaders of the Field Study were Lisa Lasser, Eva Luna, John Peric, and Scott Schwab. The major activity of the club this year was its annual trip to Europe, where they visited ltaly and Greece. The highlights of the March trip included visiting the sites of original Renaissance experiments in ltaly and where some of the greatest literature was presented in Greece. As Mr. Stevens stated, They learned much more than any classroom situation could ever present.
