X S Qi' E 201' QVIIOVS It seems hardly poss1ble that my e1ghteenth year at Dana Hall IS drawmg to a close and that the t1me has come to say farewell to another sen1or class We shall all remember the year 1955 1956 for many th1ngs For the f1rst t1me 1n fifty sm years the Dana Hall yearbook 15 Wltl'lOl1f a message from M1ss Helen Temple Cooke She now l1ves only 1n our memor1es yet her mflu ence 1S felt 1n all of the fine th1ngs you have found at Dana Hall 1n h1gh 1deals warm fr1endl1ness and sound scholarsh1p We shall remember the year as the 75th ann1versary of the found1ng of our school We are rem1nded of Henry Durant and of Wellesley College where our school really had 1fS b1rth of 1ts s1mple beg1nn1ng 1n an old remodeled church of Katherme Lee Bates and the other great teachers of the early days who put the1r stamp of d1st1nct1on upon the school Our thoughts also turn back W1th grat1tude to the loyalty and devot1on of many generatlons of Dana Hall g1rlS 1955 195 6 IS also the year 1n wh1ch we have expressed our confidence 1n the ab1d1ng values of our school by construct1ng the first bu1ld1ng on our new campus It marks a new era 1n our school s h1story In the years ahead you w1ll see the new Dana Hall take shape around the athlet1c field where there w1ll be pleasant v1stas a sense of space and a sweep of lawn and sky Fmally th1s school year w1ll be remembered for the class of 1956 the last sen1ors to use the old school bu1ld1ng It has been your pr1v1lege to lead the school at an 1mportant t1me For all that you have done to make If a better place 1n wh1ch to l1ve and work we glve our heartfelt thanks We thank you too for your generous class g1ft to the mus1c department l1brary Do keep 1n touch w1th us as the years go by and always remember that there IS a very spec1al place for you here at Dana Hall May the future years br1ng to each of you the fulfillment of your h1ghest aspxratlons W1th SIHCCFC affect1on - 4 H 5 x , - f f y 'gal Ja 1 .8- 0 5 '+ 7 if , , 8 -Zz: ' - 6 0 , - 9 9 , . 3 9 . . , . . 9 9 ' a a . 9 ' J , . . . 1 Y
