Stop to consider. in the math room, 9:00 P. M. practices, and cries of Rebounds! , Fifty points , and Chocolate or peppermint? The class games and the amusing and exciting house competition, a farewell to the B. B. season, were highpoints of the year. The basketball teams were well acquainted with the lively fencers. During refreshments after a game the fencers moved to one side of the snack bar but often managed to spear a cone on the retreat. This agility proved itself during the an- nual tournament at Brandeis University and dur- ing other inter-school competition. Body Mechanics taught co-ordination, good pos- ture, poise, and such skills as how to sit without .19- Classy awaits the winner. A horse laugh. Bonnie voices an opinion. leading with the rear. Although temporarily suf- fering from muscular pains and strains, the body mechanics student gradually acquired correct car- riage and a good figure. If you were chubby, brittle, or awkward, Mod- ern Dance was ideal for improvement. For those who developed limber limbs and interpretive intelligence, the Workshop provided advanced study in expression and rhythm. During the warm spring months tennis was the rage. From early morning to dusk, dozers on the sun deck listened to the ping-ping of tennis balls on the asphalt courts. Occasionally there were pauses to retrieve home runs from the nearby

S PO R T S af ibm Cartoons, daily notices, coming attractions, articles of current interest, and class notices- Ha-ha! Weive got Classy. --made the A. A. Board invaluable to the sports enthusiasts. And there was always the excuse box to challenge the creative minds of non-sports enthusiasts. Sticks down! was the slogan of the big fall sport, hockey. Although wrists ached, breath came in gasps, sides hurt, and bruises appeared, more than 165 girls participated. Heavy sweaters and blue bows recall varsity games and the aftermath of hot cocoa and cookies. Straight as an arrow. To the relief of the hockey players, the archers on the adjoining field consistently hit the target. Archery was a student-run sport and appealed to enthusiastic beginners, dead-eye dicks, and lovers of a convenient gym outfit. Are you ready, gang? Let's go! -and with a resounding yell the cheerleaders leaped into the dining room for a little pep rally over soup and sandwiches. These irrepressible girls organized pep rallies with lollipops, initiated cheers, and en- couraged attendance at competitive games. Page twenty Mrs. Hogdon, Miss Gery, Miss Bowlby. Everyone knew who rode. It was unmistakable. The gymkhana with musical chairs and the spring horse show proved the skill and determination of the riding classes as they performed on occasion- ally co-operative steeds. The gym, with the bump in the middle of the floor , housed 6824 of Dana during the winter basketball classes. The large advanced class espec- ially remembers stilts against Milton, instruction Touche!

A rip-roaring set. old Chapin QP, Sun worshippers. brook. This tennis enthusiasm culminated in the exciting singles and doubles tournaments during the final days of school. It is thrilling to race down a lacrosse field for 20 yards cradling the ball. Yet it is discouraging to discover the hall has been inadvertently re- leased 19 yards back. However. the Dana varsities and their opponents were enthusiastic, fun-loving, and peculiarly determined. . . for the hips. Page tzven fy-hen W'e're from Dana and eouldn't he any prouder The golfers, whether their specialty was long drives or short slices, improved their game in preparation for Summer fun and tournaments at the club. They would have made their hole- in-one at Dana if only they had had a green on which to shoot! Beginning with the April mud and extending into hot May days, softball perpetually occupied --.-p-F..-P..
