They prescribe at the same time jane Sangerht remarkably slimming routine by which one can re- main alive and beautiful on a starvation diet, a perfect way to get thin. I must try it! I had pretty much worn out my tennis racquet this summer, so I thought that while I was in New York, I ought to buy a new one at Golf and Tuttleis, the store one always goes to for athletic equipment ofany kind. The co-owners of this amazing establishment whispered to me, quite confidentially, of course, that Ruthie Howe has just come back from her honeymoon. jill Vandenburg took Ruthie and her hus- band around the world in Jill's smooth new yacht. They loved every minute of the trip, even when they were captured by natives in the heart of Africa. They got away safely, however, because of the inter- vention of the natives' white goddess, Lee Garriion! After leaving Goff and Tuttle's with a divine new racquet, I decided to drop in on Pat Boardman, who is swamped with running a 'iLonely Hearts, Clubf' Pat very generously presented me with a complimentary ticket to janetCraj10's and Nangz Schillinglf operetta, which is abso- lutely all the rage. The operctta is the story of a goddess who falls in love with a mortal. Naturally, many complications arise, but what made me enjoy myself so hugely were Sue Adams as the goddess, and 79 Sue Bartlett as the mortal who was afraid of love. I sat next to Nangy Edgelzill, who was on the verge of returning home to Cali- fornia-how she loves that West! Edgie was overflowing with gossip, so during the intermission we sat and gossiped! Un- fortunately, all of Pat Dunnlv children are cute little sailor boys, so she wonit have anyone to carry on her physics record at Dana. .Marge Wilkens liked school and enjoyed studying so much that she has started all over again, and has recently been promoted to the second grade. jane Felton is at camp this summer. I think this is her twenty-second year, and she may be a counsellor by now. Persis Hgawooa' just never stops winning championships, that girl is some athlete. And last, but not latest, Lallie Lee Lowis is still questioning the Pythagorean Theorem! It was certainly fun to find out about them all! Who would have guessed ten years ago that we would all be what we are now, just about the most versatile class that ever hit the school. Well, back to the 'ts lum!!!!! But in spite of this record, Shell was surprised to hear that Gracie Fletcher was in Australia observing the habits of the ostrich and collecting their plumes for the Alpena Department of Commerce. While I was in Illinois, I re- ceived a letter from Salb Tallman, who is selling 'flarge succulent oranges at, you guessed it, Fort Meyers, Florida. Sally said that Nangl English is the new head of the Wellesley Inn, and every Saturday and Sunday she holds open house for the Dana girls. Sal went on to tell me that Mary Mitchell is an ace reporter, it seems that every time Mary's on the scent, she shrieks out Gangway, Scoopl' or else Stop that thieflw As the summer was fast drawing to a close, I turned my footsteps in the direc- tion of Pittsburgh. I had sometime ago received an invitation to jangz Andersonis yearly wedding. Enroute, I noticed in NThe Times' that Dort Bintg has estab- lished a woman's college in Saganaw, Michigan. That's the one Dale Doran is Dean ofg also that is where Nangz Smith teaches Modern European History. Alice Batchelder is in charge of the dormitories, a position for which she prepared by hav- ing been head of the Main Building. I understand that Dort is giving Dana Hall applicants consideration before all others. Why wasn't there some good old soul like that back in ,45? There was a column in the Times stating that Dottie Evans and Diane Palmer are interning at Mass. Gen- eral Hospital. I arrived in Pittsburgh, very much ex- cited about Janey's wedding, I was not to be disappointed. Janey looked lovelier than at anyone of her previous nine wed- dings. Ann St. Clair made a darling matron- of-honourg she and her husband design planes, you know. At the reception I saw Barbara Bogart, who has been managing 78 Armandofs Restaurant, known for its rich food. With Bogartus was her lovely sister- in-law, Maile Scott. These two regaled me with the news of Edith Sillcoxk' being presi- dent of the Watertown Chamber of Com- merce, and sending out booklets contain- ing the statistics of Watertown. At that moment, a murmur rose from the guests. No wonder! There in the doorway stood Esther Hamilton, ambassador to France, and Sabina Gildemeister, envoy to and chief interpreter at all the peace conferences! They were accompanied by Polhz Lishon, whose cute nickname, Fifi Nightingale, has stuck with Polly ever since she and Virginia Boon went to Europe with Audrgn Stewart to nurse starving and destitute children. My last point of debarkation was New York City. I put up at Vicky Harringtorfs, I mean, the Dr. Harringtonls, noted psy- choanalyst's, who was just dying to work on a guinea pig like me. Vicky had just come back from Connecticut, where she had been visiting Marie Freeman, who simply wonit leave her native state. CLASS WILL VVe, the Class of 1945, after successfully coping with tests and test tubes, words, figures, friends, teachers, diets and fire- drills, hoping we are of sound mind, do hereby bequeath those things which we held most dear this last year at Dana Hall to those we leave behind: To Mrs. Ripley we leave our everlasting gratitude for her enthusiasm and inval- uable guidance. To the Juniors we leave the joys and calories abundant in the senior room kitchen, the privilege of walking disdain- fully past study hall, and the relief of not having to find chaperones for six o'clocks. To the Sophomores we leave the antici- pation of Spread, the prestige of being old girls and upper classmen, and the love of their sister class. We leave the following individual leg- acies: We leave Audrey Shippeeis school spirit and dependability to posterity in hopes that there will always be some one in Dana Hall to carry them on. We leave Rose Sunis quiet charm to Frances Wells-need we say more. To Ginny Rising we leave Brenda Bow- manis convenient size. Maile Scott has generously agreed to share her Howing locks with Marty Holt. Cemetery leaves eight graves to be filled-and also Frances Penrose's laugh to haunt them. Brownie Morrison has graciously be- queathed her magazines to any future senior who has nothing to do in her study periods. 80 To each liiture senior we leave a set of false finger nails in anticipation of college boards. Alex leaves Dana. We leave Catty Raubis abundance of men to Sally Patrick, who we hope will share the overflow with the rest of the school. Bibs Fincke hands over her one way ticket to Exeter to Petie Hoving-lucky dog. As a class we would like to leave Nat Nowell's lovely poise to the Sophomore class to help them become truly worthy of being Dana Hall girls. We leave Barbara Doane's figure to be envied by all. To Pondie Ordway we leave all of the weight weive gained from September to June. Molly Clark leaves her bubbling hu- mour to be carried on by Nancy Munroe. Ann Shellabarger leaves Helen and Mary. Frances Penrose was going to leave the story of her operation, but couldn't bear to part with it. Last but not least, we leave this Focus to keep alive the memory of our class and our years at Dana.
