peddling Oregon apples. I asked her what had become of Bobby Doane, and re- ceived the reply that the latter designs clothes for Hattie Carnegie-and models them herself-no wonder they sell! Belly Mao.Neil still can't drag herself far away from Pinkham Notch, while Bibs Finckelr love of adventure led her to dive from Golden Gate Bridge. I foresaw this last at school when Bibs was constantly diving from radiators, and diving after hockey balls. I left California regretfully, and aimed for St. Paul. But Alex Ordway had lor- gotten to meet me, as jane Lachmund had arrived a few days before and was being shown the sights, so I made my way as best as I could to her house alone. Because of her unusual linguistic ability, Alex has been made head of the language depart- ment at Dana, and is also adviser to the Sophomore Class. Our Janie, now known as Bubbles Lachmund, has set the pace for thousands by posing in McEwen Bubble- bath. While waiting for Alex at her home, I turned on the radio, and was amused to hear Marg: Pearl Alexanderlv voice shriek out, Hi-O, Silverf, Finally Alex arrived, behind time as usual. After dinner we went to St. Paul's local emporium. Imagine my surprise when I saw Phyllir Baehman and Tragv Rowe, those two side-splitting comedians, billed with Barbara Flanagan, known to millions as Soapbox Susie, in the new musical comedy, Taxicab Serenadef, by Connie Chaplin. After the show, we trouped backstage to interview our former classmates. Tracy told us that Marjorie Malhewson and Audrgz Thompson have been hoodwinking the public with fascinating seancesg and Phyllis informed us that joan Orr is busily raising daughters, that one of them may become Dana,s first great-great-grand- daughter! A couple of days later Alex drove me to the station. Who should be announcing my train as it pulled into the station but Anne Borntrager,'she of the powerful voice! I waved hello, and had just time to ind out that jacquie Hart is now the Dutch Consul over here, before I made a leap for the departing train. On the train I started to read Beay Denkerfs and joan Blumenlhallv best-seller Life on a Bingen. This book kept me amused until my train pulled into Decatur. Ann CurU1 and Ann Shellabarger had gotten my wire and dropped everything to come to meet me. Needless to say, we made up for not having seen each other by talking incessantly. Curry was rather preoccupied because she was trying to think of her next move for the chess game which she and Audrey Shippee had been carrying on by mail ever since they had left Dana. I meant to tell you that Audrey Shippee is head of the Government Department of Socialized Athletics, so she must be ter- ribly important down in Washington. Sibby, who makes a lovely cowgirl, brought us out much need- ed refreshments. Dawson's ale! That meant Pat Mooney was in the house. They say she's a whiz at the beer business, and still leads the fashions. A shrill whistle from behind caused me to shudder, but not for long. After a marvelous reunion at Sibby's I ran out of laundry, and decided to turn my footsteps westward. I had a curious urge to Hnd out what had happened to the rest of my confreres. On the train, I picked up a magazine and glanced casually through it until a Pepsodent ad caught my eye. There on the page before me was Marie Van Hire, just recently elected Pepsodent Queen of 1955! I knew her friendly smile would get her places. I happened to look up from the magazine, and there stood Margaret Mac- Dougall, in an engineer's outfit, leaning on a pick and shovel. Mag came over and told me that jean Matlern is teaching chemical engineering at Pitt College for Women and also that Maw Baker is Mag: Sack favorite model. When I got off the train at Los Angeles, I ran bang into Sharon Lulga and .Nayda Valldquly, both pilots, on their way to Guatemala. I chatted with them for a while and learned that Roberta Matthier is a woman doctor in Alaska, while B. j. Anderson runs horse farms all over the country fshe has one in almost every statej with Margaret Traylor and Lic Morrill as her riding instructors. I thought it interest- ing that Rose Sun is back at Dana teaching Chinese, and is nicknamed Mlle. Moon- beam-her husband teaches at M.I.T. From Los Angeles I went on to Beverly Hills to see Nat .Nowell and jean Sanderson. Nat has no career, but is just plain happily married QI can imagine nothing betterj. jean saves many attractive men from drowning in the Pacific! Sandy Mills was staying with Jean. Sandy and Pal Spring have finally proved, after many arduous hours of lab. work, that fleas do get tuber- culosis after all. Mary King is following in her father's footsteps by becoming a fore- most brain surgeon. My next stop was the California House of Representatives, where I visited Shirley Rubel, who is the leader of the Farmers' Rights Group. Until then, I didnyt realize that George McCormick, Bezgy Brown, and Maribz Krurn own a weasel farm, where they raise weasels for their skins. Their motto is Hjeazel, Peazel, buy a Weasel! A must,' on my trip list was the M.G.M. Studios. I had to see my ex-roommate, Brenda Bowman. She was busy in her latest role as Tarzan's wife and swooped down to my feet on a vine, yelping out, Hello.', I had difficulty understanding her jungle talk at first, but managed to make out that jean Hurlbut poses her luscious red hair for M.G.M.,s lion's mane. just then Chiane Gerow came into the lot,

But in spite of this record, Shell was surprised to hear that Gracie Fletcher was in Australia observing the habits of the ostrich and collecting their plumes for the Alpena Department of Commerce. While I was in Illinois, I re- ceived a letter from Salb Tallman, who is selling 'flarge succulent oranges at, you guessed it, Fort Meyers, Florida. Sally said that Nangl English is the new head of the Wellesley Inn, and every Saturday and Sunday she holds open house for the Dana girls. Sal went on to tell me that Mary Mitchell is an ace reporter, it seems that every time Mary's on the scent, she shrieks out Gangway, Scoopl' or else Stop that thieflw As the summer was fast drawing to a close, I turned my footsteps in the direc- tion of Pittsburgh. I had sometime ago received an invitation to jangz Andersonis yearly wedding. Enroute, I noticed in NThe Times' that Dort Bintg has estab- lished a woman's college in Saganaw, Michigan. That's the one Dale Doran is Dean ofg also that is where Nangz Smith teaches Modern European History. Alice Batchelder is in charge of the dormitories, a position for which she prepared by hav- ing been head of the Main Building. I understand that Dort is giving Dana Hall applicants consideration before all others. Why wasn't there some good old soul like that back in ,45? There was a column in the Times stating that Dottie Evans and Diane Palmer are interning at Mass. Gen- eral Hospital. I arrived in Pittsburgh, very much ex- cited about Janey's wedding, I was not to be disappointed. Janey looked lovelier than at anyone of her previous nine wed- dings. Ann St. Clair made a darling matron- of-honourg she and her husband design planes, you know. At the reception I saw Barbara Bogart, who has been managing 78 Armandofs Restaurant, known for its rich food. With Bogartus was her lovely sister- in-law, Maile Scott. These two regaled me with the news of Edith Sillcoxk' being presi- dent of the Watertown Chamber of Com- merce, and sending out booklets contain- ing the statistics of Watertown. At that moment, a murmur rose from the guests. No wonder! There in the doorway stood Esther Hamilton, ambassador to France, and Sabina Gildemeister, envoy to and chief interpreter at all the peace conferences! They were accompanied by Polhz Lishon, whose cute nickname, Fifi Nightingale, has stuck with Polly ever since she and Virginia Boon went to Europe with Audrgn Stewart to nurse starving and destitute children. My last point of debarkation was New York City. I put up at Vicky Harringtorfs, I mean, the Dr. Harringtonls, noted psy- choanalyst's, who was just dying to work on a guinea pig like me. Vicky had just come back from Connecticut, where she had been visiting Marie Freeman, who simply wonit leave her native state.
