DANA HALLMANAC Editor-in-Chityf Nancy Canfield Managirzg Editor Suzanne Warner Business Alanager Alta Mae Harris Feature Editor Dorothy Ross News Editor Ann Darr A new publication has been launched at Dana Hall- The Dana Hallmanae. Positions on the staff are open to all eligible stu- dents interested in its activities regardless of class. After the contest for naming the paper, we wrote news, framed headlines, devised features, and sent the first editions to the printer. In it and subsequent issues we recorded such events as dances, ski- weekend, parties, and Spread and made editorial comment. The purpose of this newspaper is to inform students of happenings in school, and more important still to report events and set forth the problems at Dana Hall with accuracy and integrity. We have established this paper, but it depends on succeeding classes to make it a tradition. STUDIO GROUP President Louise Lameyer Vice-President Sue Adams Seeremrv Sue Resor Treasurer Alice Bentley The Studio Group was a new organization, formed to help us become better acquainted with the field of art. At our monthly meetings, Miss Chaney us- ually talked on some phase of art history, and then we joined in a lively open dis- cussion of it. The Group started a col- lection of prints of famous paintings by such artists as Renoir, Picasso, and Gaugin and circulated them fbr enjoyment in our own rooms. We aimed to accumulate enough for a school lending library and to present a large framed one to the school each year. We also spon- sored exhibits in the Library to familiarize thc school as a whole with the work not only of modern painters but of Dana Hall and Exeter students as well. 631

MUSIC CLUB Prrsiderzt Barbara Flanagan Iiff-Presidm!-.S'm'rtary Mary Brink Treasurer Brenda Bowman At last, in its fourth year, the Music Club became a full fledged club. We continued to build up a collection of rec- ords of which we could be very proud and to which our members could listen at any time. In addition, we sponsored several guest artists for the enjoyment of the school. Among them were Miss Persis Cox and Miss Denise Bacon, a Dana Hall alumna, who gave us delightlhl piano con- certs. We spent many enjoyable Tuesday afternoons listening to records and some- times to guest performers. The high spots of this year were the movies that we gave. The most popular of these was The Great Mr. Handel. Under the able guidance ol Miss Conning this was a very successful year, and we all enjoyed it immensely. DRAMA CLUB Presiden! Nancy Taft Vice-Preriderz' ADH Dari' Secretary Nancy Dignan Treasurer Louise Lameyer This year the Drama Club was respon- sible for four somewhat pretentious pro- ductions. In December we gave our first performance, the combination of the tra- ditional Christmas Revels and the Christ- mas Play, HShepherds.,' In January An- toinette Lee and Barbara Alden, Dana graduates, entertained us with a series ol skits entitled 'Spotlight Miniaturesf, The spring play, i'The Romantic Agef' seemed to be enjoyed by the audience as much as we enjoyed giving it. Our Hnal perform- ance was the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta HPinalore, directed by Mrs. Lee and Mr. Chapple. The talent of old and new mem- bers made possible this very successliil year. 621
