X1 , fs '- -- . .f 1 o 5 ,t I Student government has had a very successful year under the leadership of Esther Hamilton. To lurther its service to the school, the Council has been revised. There is now only one House President for the Main Building, who has under her direction the House Representatives of each ol' the corridors. In addition to its representation on the all- school council the non-resident students have elected a subsidiary council of their own number which functions directly in matters pertaining particularly to non-resi- dents. At our suggestion the school has experimented with inlormal breakfasts which means that we may eat breakfast as soon as the bell rings without waiting for the en- tire tablc to assemble, thus saving much needed time. Our special activity has been to establish a new system whereby the student body may become more independent. thus strengthening the qualities of responsibility, cooperation, and school spirit. This new merit system divides the girls into tour different groups according to their aca- demic and citizenship ratings, and conlers privileges and responsibilities earned by personal achievement. VYe have tried to live up to the standard that a good citizen is one who lives harmoniously in his community, helps solve its problems, and actively shapes its growth. We believe these innovations have and will continue to benefit the girls and the school as a whole, which is our ultimate aim. T5-il l 1
